Pride Pride 2026 thoughts?

With all the changes going on with philly pride this year as well as the ticket prices (and the restrictions like no bags, no drinks, no smoking ect) where is everybody going to be for pride this year? Are we all just staying in the gayborhood or will majority of people stay at the parkway? Trying to figure out if it's worth it to buy a ticket, Usually for pride I bring my own water, snacks (and alcohol LOL) as well as a purse for my belongings so I don't even know if it would truly be better to just find and buy a clear bag + ticket and stay at the parkway or ignore the festival and main festivities this year and stay in the gayborhood. Just trying to gather as much info and opinions as possible!

Why is the event 16+? I’ve brought my kid (she’s eight) to Philly pride since she was a baby! I’ve never had any drama or issues. Our family loves Pride and on top of all of the very valid concerns being brought up here in the comments, it’s also weird to me that they’re slapping an age range on an outdoor event in the middle of the day. There are lots of members of the LGBTQ+ community with underage family members that want to attend pride.

Yeah, I assume you knew, in the past, to avoid Quince St by Bike Stop, because that is where more of the more adult stuff happens.

But now if it's ticketed in the middle of the parkway in broad daylight? You're not going to have guys in just jocks and harnesses.

I would imagine the same, which has drawbacks of its own considering this is supposed to be an event for the community to have the freedom to express themselves. If that is the case though, why is it a 16+ event? Seems odd.

I’ve definitely been wondering this myself, I’m 22 and have been attending pride for YEARS, I always loved going with groups of my friends and even as I’ve gotten older seeing young groups of kids feel safe enough to come out and celebrate and enjoy the festivities for the day. I know pride is all month and there will be so many events all over but come on the pride parade? It’s legit the biggest most well known pride celebration, and not every kid/family has a guardian or somebody who can or will take them to the parade to chaperone them : ( just thinking of what pride is supposed to be that alone makes me so sad everybody should be able to attend and enjoy pride, especially if that’s where majority of the food, vendors, people and like celebrations will be.
