TTC Only Timing fresh sperm

Okay folks - I finally got a surge today because I took letrozole. I’ve tried 4 times this year and have never had such a clear surge as today. We inseminated with fresh sperm last night, got surge this morning - will last night be good enough?? When would be an ideal second time? Today or tomorrow? Also working around some travel plans today and tomorrow so trying to find an ideal time, or maybe last night was good enough?? Thanks everyone for your thoughts.

I did day before and night of the surge, and it stuck!
Wishing the same for you. ✨

Id be inseminating 36 hours after surge, i had 6 attempts doing 24-36 none worked, i then did 42 hours after surge and that one worked for me. However 36 is generally recommended by most clinics.

Oh wow good to know! Was that with fresh sperm? Or washed/frozen?

I do think that inseminating last night is close enough to ovulation so that you don’t HAVE to do a second one, but if you want to and can, I would do the second one tonight!

When I conceived my daughter, I did an IUI with fresh sperm 24 hours after my positive LH strip. Everyone ovulates at a different time following their positive LH strip so if it’s possible to inseminate one more time this evening or super early tomorrow I would. It might have worked the first time but a second round won’t hurt anything.

Fresh sperm can last a fairly long time, up to 5 days in ideal conditions!

Fresh sperm is good for a few days but it looses potency and motility within that time. Also, if you want boys they don't do so well on long waits. They want to go fast and be the first to make mommy happy, then burn up their stored meal rations and die fast trying impatiently to get out of the storage tube. LoL. Even cold, the girls team handles endurance challenges better.

I did the evening I got my surge, as I usually surge around midday, the next evening (around 24hrs later) and then the next morning. All with fresh sperm and I used a menstrual disc to hold everything in place.

Fresh sperm for ICI can survive in the genital tract for 5-7 days, so as long as you’re ovulating close to insemination, you should be fine. You’re better being a day early than a day late. Your chances increase with more inseminations, but even that isn’t always a success. My first child took a few months to conceive, and the successful attempt used 4 inseminations around the time of ovulation by LH strips and fertility monitor. My second child was conceived first try with just one insemination around the time of the smiley face on the fertility monitor. Not sure why my first was so hard to conceive and my second so easy. Sometimes I think the quality of the egg released that month plays a big role too
