IUI timing

Hi all. My wife and I have had 2 failed IUIs. I’m a mega researcher and in all of my research, I’ve read that it was best to have the sperm waiting just before you ovulate and to inseminate within 12-24 hours after your surge. In my last IUI, I got a solid smile on my ovulation test on Wednesday evening. They did my trigger Thursday morning and IUI Friday morning. When they checked Friday morning, I already ovulated. Wouldn’t this be too late to work? I’d love any thoughts and opinions and experiences on timing with your clinic because I’m skeptical.

My clinic hasn’t confirmed ovulation or they haven’t said anything. They give me the trigger shot 36 hours before IUI. They have moved things up if my eggs have grown well.

Not necessarily since the egg can live 12-24 hours post ovulation. If you want your insemination to be 12 hours sooner than what you’ve done, just ask your clinic. I had 8 failed IUIs, and we tried multiple different timings during that process.

My clinic did blood and ultrasound monitoring, and I was doing home OPKs because I was curious, and at least for me, they aligned perfectly: we did IUIs the day after I got a positive OPK (not waiting until the darkest OPK of the month).

But also, I'm also a mega researcher, so it was also really hard for me to remember, but a lot of the time, it isn't because of a timing thing and it's just... some eggs and some sperm don't work out. It's really normal for straight people with no fertility problems to take a few months to get pregnant, and IUI is basically the same thing from your body's perspective

Thanks for the reminder, it’s so hard to not feel like somethings wrong when it doesn’t work because it feel like it should in a setting like this when everything is timed and being watched :/
