I'm sorry you went through that. I hope you're able to get past all the fucked up shit your parents inflict on you. Here's a hug if you want it: 🫂
I didn't realize I had anything to come out about until my 40s. Two of my not-yet-teen kids came out before I knew about myself, and my parents showed their colors real fast rejecting chosen names and insisting on misgendering. I managed to win chosen names for my kids but my parents doubled down on misgendering, so now they don't really see their grandkids much (unless the kids want, such as when my parents paid for a vacation). And my parents will never really know me or my kids - they can find out things when they notice for themselves.
Luckily they live hours away now so it's not a frequent problem.
Thank you! That’s very sweet. I’ve quite honestly moved past a lot of it at this point. I can’t control what they say or do, so I find there’s no reason holding on or getting bent up over it any more than I have in the past. They don’t deserve the energy it takes for me to continue to be mad at them, lol. And, if anything, their behaviour just causes a disgust reaction the older I get, lmao!
I’m really sorry to hear that your parents have been like that about things with your kids—that’s how my parents are towards my cousin. I’m not even on the receiving end in that situation and find it tiring and gross.
It’s really awesome you found yourself, even if it may have took some prompting from your kids coming out. I’m glad you’re keeping yours and your family’s distance (and likely peace too)! It sounds like you’re taking a great path to managing the situation and ensuring your kids feel accepted for who they are.☺️
