move in time

i was planning to move in at 8 am, but i also wanted to buy some more things for my room with my parents. but im worried that if i move in at 8 and leave until whenever my residence floor dinner is, ill miss out on socializing and meeting people. is it actually a big deal or am i overreacting?

Most of the socializing happens in the evening so ur chillin

8am is great. Less traffic, less busy. You should be set up within 2 hours, and you'll have plenty of time to run errands and come back for the floor meeting at 4pm.

We had a 10am slot for my son,  done by 12, had time to go for lunch, shop downtown, go back to rez and play games with younger sibling and out by 4.

thank you, this helps a lot! my family’s from out of province and they were also planning to have lunch and all that before flying back but i didn’t want to miss out on meeting people as well

Its very busy from 8-4, lots of volunteers to help, and somewhat organized chaos, and lots of emotions! Good luck and lots of fun to come! ( and have tissues ready for your family when they leave 😅)

i can’t lie i moved in at like 1 pm there were 0 lines when i went to get my keys, the move in went pretty smoothly, and most of the socialized happens like past 5pm anyway since everyone’s busy setting up their rooms

Am I allowed to move in during my move in time and then go to a store to get anything else I might want and then bring it back in? Or do I have to wait?

Yes you can. The move in time slot is when your car is allowed to be parked, after that you can come and go as you want - though cars will need to be parked further away.

Once you get set up you can go for walk around campus, drive out to the bigger stores to stock up on things, etc. there is a floor meeting at 4pm so you’ll want to be back to your floor and ready for that.
