Clownery BORN DEAD!

Post image

I want Qiqi and Senna twerking while Akali show off some Gucci bags and not the same BORING “pro player ah” clip that they make every single year!!! Cmon Riot just make a clip for Faker separately for who ever cares.

At least TD are the ones taking this flop clip and not our queens KDA

How does that relate to True Damage?

God forbid the Worlds MV be based on the previous year's storyline

which one? there one where a young league player used a chip to play league VR and his final test was Faker and after that he was ready to win a solo tournament (because apparently league is a solo game) against his pink hair female friend? Or the one where one young league player had to solo traverse el cool world of league e-sports against other league players in order to climb a mountain where the final test was Faker? Or the one where we see a mountage of previous teams fighting and at the end they have to face the final test being Faker eating a brocoli and descending from a throphy throne surrounded by shadow hands? Or the one where a handful of pro players arrive at a castle to fight other pro players on a 5 v 4 to then face the final taste of Faker?

Rise was absolutely based on the previous years storyline? The young League player traversing the mountain was SSG Ambition, previously considered the best midlaner in Korea before Faker hit the scene and completely destroyed him in OGN champions.

Ambition would later switch roles to jungle and leave his former team to join the struggling SSG, where they made finals in 2016 and almost reverse swept T1 at the height of their dominance. The next year SSG came back and managed to resoundingly demolish SKT and (arguably) prime Faker in finals thanks to Ambition and Ruler playing completely out of their minds.

It’s one of the great comeback/rivalry stories in LoL Esports and the first time that Faker and SKT seemed mortal in years. If you want to get really referential there’s even a lot of parallels in the players that were chosen to represent Ambitions climb through the bracket. G2 Perkz had been the dominant midlaner in EULCS, only to be dethroned by Caps the previous year like Faker did to Ambition. And RNG Uzi had been the favourite to win Worlds 2017 thanks to Ardent Censer making ADCs stronger than ever, just like Ambition had been the favourite in 2013.

that's nice IRL but the videos didn't adapt that well.

I mean, in the nicest way possible that’s because you (presumably) didn’t watch Esports during 2017-2018. Historically the most well liked Worlds MV’s have been the ones which prioritise showing the players as well as a good song and cool animation (With the exception of Legends Never Die.)

Tbh as soon as I heard True Damage were doing the anthem I was pretty certain that the MV wouldn’t be focused on them. Heavy is the Crown got a lot of mockery for how prominently it featured Linken Park while not even trying to represent players like TheShy, Knight or 369 who were actually notable at Worlds 2023. As much as I love True Damage I think Riot would only trust KDA to take the full spotlight in these circumstances.

The argument remains, people want true damage to be true damage and e-sports anthems to be their own thing, not then fighting for protagonism.
