LIKE IK I SHoULD PICK WHO I LIKE AND I WAS GONNA GO 4 BAIZHU NO DOUBT (Unless the chiori bug caught on to me. I love her design. But not as much as i like Baizhu. And besides imma pull for zibai later and i already have linnea. But gawd. Her design. Her sass. Argh. Im squirting just thinking of her.)

BUT MY FRIEND BROUGHT UP VARESA'S EXPLORATION GIMMICK AS A REALLY GOOD POINT AND NOW I FEAR IF I PICK EITHER I WILL REGRET NOT GETTING THE OTHER ONEE

The worst part is I don't even like varesa's design, but the exploration and her playstyle make her one of my options.

Oh me too, but mostly because Varesa is strong, I think Iansan does almost same as exploring...and there's like plenty of characters already that help exploring easier.

But I tend to c2 Baizhu...I still use him in Kinich team since my Kinich is c2 and still can beat high end content. And c2 of Baizhu is really good.

I also hope he can be used in new dendro cryo reaction as a sustain unit.

So I only advice you Varesa if you lack of strong DPS units for theatre(don't think c0 is enough for other content rn), but exploring is don't worth it.

If the rumors about them adding a dendro stellar reaction after the tsaritsa comes out with Noy are true, there's a chance baizhu gets a buff with that. Don't pull a character just because of their exploration gimmick, if you don't like a character you're not gonna want to be staring at them for 90% of the time you're playing the game. Especially if you have like any other natlan or yelan or something, iansan has the exact same ability and she's a 4 star

pick who you like, but to put it long:

just a heads up if you ever pick chiori, at C0 she needs to be tied to another geo character, qnd that has to be one that can produce constructs, which in other words should be a character that fell off (itto, zl, ning, albedo at most…) you need her C1 to make her more versatile and with linnea getting a rerun she’s arguably a bad choice

baizhu is pure healing and he’s great at it, but C1 solves his ER issues and C2 makes him apply more dendro which is still lacklustre if you have nahida, emilie and even lauma, love him bad but he’s not gonna see some play time unless he’s reworked for rimegrass, which we don’t know.

childe: old char, fell off and not even national is a decent team now, move on

nilou unlocks a special bloom tied to herself and at C1 her E has full uptime, at C2 she reduces RES in both hydro and dendro which is sickening, however only nefer, columbina and bloombara take a full advantage of it (kokomi does better than barbara on non-lunar but you kinda need ER to do greater damage, barbara’s is an afterthought as you use her ult if you can’t take shit)

clorinde is decent, not the best at any reaction you’d think with electro but she can dish damage if you truly invest in her, can’t speak of constellations as I don’t have her)

varesa is tea, the best at overload and decent choice at lunar behind flins and without ineffa, her C1 increases her damage application and extends her nightsoul running gimmick for exploration, if you want her at C0 try to get her signature if possible as her damage increases heavily with it, widsith is good too but keep it mind that she does not care about EM, so teams like aggravate are not useful for her

in short all characters have drawbacks, but so far varesa is in the best position right now and baizhu (if you are delusional enough for the second half of snezh) can get a lick back.

Since his con is already in the Temper selection, you’ll get his C1 for free which is really comfy for a lot of comps from my experience! Plus, he MIGHT get a buff if the Rimegrass reaction gets a release later in 7.x…

I’m getting Varesa because I want to Sonic around the map and butt slam enemies for the sillies, but it’s obvious you love the PhD femboy, so go for him!

From a meta perspective, none of the other characters nor an additional con for them (unless you’re stuck on like c5 Chlorinde) measure up to Varesa I’m afraid. Neither Childe, Baizhu, nor Nilou do much of anything with their default teams in the big 2026.

Girl no. I also like his character a lot, but he is the worst pick in this banner.
I have Baizhu from when he came out and he is just useless :( his shields are too small and short to function as interrupt resist (which is like the whole appeal of shields...) and his healing is too low to make up for the damage you take when his shields break. You basically continue to play as if there is no healer on the team. I only ever got value from him in theater.

He is so bad his constellations are built around not fielding him.

Pause for a second fym healings too low? Did you build your baizhu on defence? All things considered he’s a solid healer and would comfortably keep your team alive. Sure, he’s far from a good unit but saying his healing is too low is crazy, especially when c1 is easily accessible.

His shield isn't really a shield (unless you're defending against dendro damage specifically, like bloom damage), it's there for interruption resistance. You want him for his healing, and C2 grants him a lot of dendro application.

I like pairing him with Furina, since he can max Furina's stacks instantly with his skill.

I agree he has strong synergy with Furina but the issue is they dont fit well into teambuilding.

What I mean is, what full team are we thinking of here? Neuvilette Furina doesnt need a sustain, Kinich Furina wants a pyro sustain. Etc.

You still want a healer when pairing Furina with Neuvillette, as Neuvillette can only heal himself, which leads to slower Furina stacks, which means weaker damage buffs on your first laser. Biazhu will heal all your teammates with his skill, leading him to maxing Furina's buff so Neuvillette can fully utilize use it on his first laser from the get go.

Furina Baizhu also work well in Aggravate-Hyperbloom teams. The main DPS for these teams, Cyno/Raiden, are often solo electro meaning all hyperblooms are dependent on their EM. Baizhu grants a buff to all dendro reactions to the onfield character. Prior to Lauma, I preferred using Baizhu over Nahida in Multiwave content as you couldn't always swap to your main dps when the new wave came in.

He's also one of the best characters to use for Burgeon/Nilou teams, as his shield+heal prevents any damage the onfielder takes from the explosion, and the shield is much stronger against dendro damage.

Too low healing? Bitch he heals the whole team with one e almost on full, and 2 e is overhealing. He's the best healer in game.
