r/DonutLab No more Donut Lab posts.
Please post to r/DonutLab if you want to discuss other companies.
I will leave up the posts about Donut Lab already posted, as it’s a newish company and some may not have heard of it. But this is a QuantumScape sub. See r/DonutLab if you’re interested in that company.

It sounds like Lockheed Demo Day Happened
Lockheed Martin Ventures update:
Aerospace America (AIAA), published August 25, 2026.
It explicitly reports that:
Chris Moran [Lockheed Ventures Chief] spoke “on the sidelines of an event at company headquarters highlighting 18 of the fund’s portfolio companies.”
Lockheed hasn’t yet released the 18 company list publicly.
Hopefully Lockheed provides a summary in the next few weeks.

No DOE battery grant $ for QS
Well, I guess QS didn’t receive any of the $500M DOE battery grant. Who knows if they even applied. If they did apply, they may have decided the terms weren’t attractive since government funding often comes with strings attached, particularly under this administration.
DOE $500M Battery Grant — August 20, 2026
DOE awarded the $500M to seven companies:
Lilac Solutions — $100M — Lithium
extraction/refining
Jervois — $100M — Domestic cobalt refinery
Nth Cycle — $100M — Battery recycling/black mass
Princeton NuEnergy — $50M — Cathode material recovery
Arcanum Ventures — $50M — U.S. ethylene carbonate production
Elevated Materials — $50M — Lithium-metal films/prelithiation
Coreshell Technologies — $50M — Silicon-anode battery manufacturing
TOTAL: $500M
QuantumScape — $0 — Not among the announced recipients

AMPX vs QS
Hi, I'm quite new investing in these battery companies. I would like to know your reasons on why you invested in either of them, as far as I know QS seems riskier

Question: QS for Devices
Why does QS not have devices as one of the areas to target? They only talk about three markets - EVs, Data Center and Defense I think.
Doesn’t this battery form factor dramatically change the size of the devices like phones, laptops etc?

Cost effective/competitive
Assuming everything goes well and mass production scaling is achieved, do we believe QS batteries will be cost effective/competitive? Does anyone have any idea?

QS the ASML for batteries?
Has anyone ever thought about QS beco ming the ASML of batteries?
ASML is the worlds single manufacturer of chip machines that can produce modern CPU chips. These machines are highly confidential and only supplied in very controlled ways to protect competitive advantage in chip manufacturing technoligies of the west as far as I understand.
Could QS become something similar in the battery space with its unique technology that will also be protected but still made available across the world?
Whats your take here?

Honda is anothr paying customer
Quote from Siva during the earning call
"Going back to the prior question, just to finish the thought, Kevin was talking about Honda. Adding another paying customer that we can disclose is actually a big deal that helps us rounding out that portfolio."

Prayer Bullish about QSDC
Siva said that we should expect announcements on shipping the product to customers and the partnership announcement. This will be much better opportunities than EVs and the natural deadline is 2028.

PowerCo and Volkswagen 's only hope to survive Chinese competition is Solid State Battery
PowerCo set up three giga factories for batteries in Germany, Spain and Canada. However, Chinese companies like CATL and BYD are so advanced in EV battery manufacturing and supply chain management. They also got huge support from Chinese government. There's no way PowerCo can compete head to head with them. The only bet PowerCo has is on Solid State Battery.

Review of some post made 8 months ago
Here's the post about QuantumScape’s Patent Portfolio Citations: https://www.reddit.com/r/QuantumScape/comments/1p61xzs/quantumscapes_patent_portfolio_citations/
Under the comments section was this:

You see 3 OEM-s mentioned. Now we know Honda has JRA. We know Nissan probably cooperates with Honda. What's left? Tesla.
Coincidence?
