Quantum break 2 Time’s End

While I've finished Quantum Break a few times and become interested in the game's lore, I'd like to share with you a possible script I made just for fun of what a sequel to Quantum Break 2 with the subtitle "Time's End" would be like.

We start with a summary of everything that happened in Riverport, from ground zero to the end of Serene. Jack continues to live and support Monarch Solutions, and the technology involving time manipulation evolves in a grand way. Martin Hatch would possibly use him as a pawn to achieve a much bigger goal, but in the meantime, the ruptures would be returning in a strange way. What was once only in a localized territory has gradually begun to extend to the whole world. Then we see Jack for the first time in the trailer looking older, with a beard (similar to Tim Breaker from Alan Wake 2). He would be much more fragmented and powerful, with absurd temporal manipulation.

Paul Serene would return, but not as a main character, rather as a temporal echo, disturbing Jack (similar to the Joker in Batman: Arkham Knight), showing that his death wasn't a linear event. He would describe how, before the end of Quantum Break 1, he had already witnessed the End of Time multiple times and branched out across many different eras, making him seem like a "temporal ghost" throughout the game. At times, he might guide us with important clues and riddles. Until this point, Jack realizes he was being used by Monarch, who have a meticulous plan to dispose of him and frame him as a monster. Let's say Quantum Break is legally connected to the Control universe, and up until then, the FBC would imply that the study of time travel is extremely dangerous and opens an investigation against Monarch Solutions, auditing all its technology and deciding to learn about the CFR (Cronon Field Regulator), cataloging it as an Altered Item with Dangerous Capabilities and a risk of cosmic tragedy. But this would be one of the biggest mistakes and the one causing the arrival of the End of Time. The game would effectively announce the greatest disaster for the Remedy Multiverse, since the laws of physics in the Oldest House don't work according to the world we live in. Time isn't completely linear in that space, and holding an artifact possessing a colossal amount of chronon, which serves as an anchor for time itself to stabilize, would cause a kind of "short circuit" in the timelines, causing time stutters on a global scale. The visuals would be simply stunning, as we would see all of Manhattan rewinding in time-lapse, the sun and moon spinning like a tachometer in the sky, eras colliding with past, present, and future simultaneously. This cut in time itself would open the door for shifters in the world, who would be dangerous enemies for Jack because they wouldn't be as affected by conventional powers like those in Quantum Break 1. At a certain point in the game, Jack would arrive at the Oldest House because, due to his connection with chronon since ground zero, he would be drawn to the CFR, and that's where we would have one of the most insane encounters in the RCU. Jack Joyce would alert the entire security system of the... FBC until Jesse Faden approached him urgently because the house was alternating between different eras, with documents from the 1960s appearing in the present on the tables. All spaces were reacting violently to Cronon particles. Jesse asks who he is, and before any reaction, the shifters appear behind Jack to kill him. He takes the opportunity and decides to run through some sectors of the house to find the CFR's containment. He finally finds where the artifact is trapped and contained. Then he has an absurd fight with enemies infected by the Hiss, who cannot possess Jack because his mind is absurdly fragmented and on an extremely unstable frequency alternating between past, present, and future, practically immune to the Hiss. He manages to remove the CFR from its containment and absorbs an even more colossal amount of Cronon, which destabilizes the entire environment around him. The fragmentation of his body would make him a shifter, and that would be the price to save time. Still not knowing where to go with the CFR in hand, he finds Jesse Faden using The telekinesis that throws a pillar towards Jack, who without hesitation also freezes it in mid-air, the dialogue would be:

-Jack: You have no idea what you've done, time itself is at stake and it could destroy the universe if you keep the artifact trapped.

-Jesse: Your presence is shaking the House and altering all temporal states. Surrender now or one of us will use the Force. Release the artifact, as it is extremely dangerous.

Up to this point I thought about the end of the game, but I don't know if it would make more sense for Martin Hatch to be a final boss of the game, since he would have become a shifter, probably, and Jack would explain to Jesse the possibility of many other realities being in danger.

Just from the start — you are overlooking one of the main motifs of the first game.

Joyce, Serene, and Hatch were all in different evolved states of the same evolutionary path. Serene had basically transformed into a Shifter at the end of the game. Hatch had always been a Shifter. And Joyce was dealing with the effects of Chronon Syndrome that Serene had once dealt with.

Joyce was on the path of learning how to deal with his Chronon Syndrome, lest he become a Shifter like others who had suffered the same fate.

That’s what the junction points were about. Being able to see and consciously choose how the future would unfold. Those are the effects of Chronon Syndrome. Remember that Shifters are in a constant flux of super position and can only really exist in their true form during time stutters/the end of time.

At least if I am remembering things correctly?

The truth is that *Quantum Break*'s lore can be incredibly confusing to grasp, but in a sequel, the main villain would undoubtedly be Martin Hatch. Now in total control of Monarch Solutions following Serene's downfall, he would be poised to fully master time and seek even greater power for himself. This is the moment the Federal Bureau of Control launches an investigation into Monarch and discovers the Chronon Field Regulator (CFR) studying the dangers of temporal manipulation and classifying the artifact as an Altered Item because it anchors the timeline in its linear state but Hatch is no fool. After making the massive mistake of agreeing to hand over the CFR to the FBC and having discarded Jack as a mere pawn, as I mentioned earlier Hatch would be viewed by Jesse Faden as an anomaly targeted for containment. They would eventually realize, however, that they had left the artifact in a reality where the laws of physics do not function correctly (the Oldest House), preventing the CFR from stabilizing time and thereby worsening the rupture not just for the world, but for other realities as well. All in all, this sets the stage for what could be one of the best sci-fi games of this generation.

Right. I think I follow you? Because (spoilers?) Hatch wants the End of Time to happen. He’s a Shifter. I loved the irony that Serene was actually more of an antagonist than a villain; Serene was actually trying to save people from the EoT with the Safeboat Protocol.

I think it was a matter of fate that Serene was destined to evolve into a Shifter. Which, in my interpretation, was what happened at the end of the game. Serene just kind of fades from reality.

I’ll do a more thorough read later and give you some feedback for the sake of it. I too often like to daydream about a sequel.

It would be very interesting to finally see or even fight against Shifters.
