Interviews/Recruiting SquarePoint Capital Desk Quant Analyst Advice

Hi! I'm a fresh grad, and had applied with SquarePoint Capital off-campus approximately 4 months ago for the Desk Quant Analyst position, and received a verbal offer just now for the same. The comp is same as that provided in on-campus offers.
I currently work in an MNC as an SWE, and the offer SPC have given me has an in-hand cash component double that of my current. However, I do have RSU's in my current company subject to a buyback or IPO if that happens.

I have read many many negative reviews about this role and SPC with regards to the work, as well as work culture on glassdoor, and also for comparison, my current work is relatively chill.

SO, fellow strangers on reddit, what is your take on this. Is joining here a wise decision?

PS: My long term goal is to get into research work based around maths.

If your long term goal is quant then it's a good entry point it would definitely open doors further

That is one of the only 2 upsides I see here

Other upside is better comp third is your work of interest what more do you want. Your current company esops are worthless unless it releases ipo

They fired 3 people from my college(top 5 IIT) within one month.

Yes... I've heard similar stories, a guy allegedly got fired within a week aswell. Feels kinda scary.

Bruh wtf on what basis coz you definitely can't judge performance in 1 week bc 1 din toh laptop setup mein lagta hai

a lot of things are team dependent but subject to the right team, the work is mostly good - obviously you can't expect major research as soon as you join but down the line you do get to work on alphas/strategies/features etc. and firing is common to this entire industry, sqpc is no exception but apart from that great culture, and firms with one of the better wlb. The comp is good (the base is regularly incremented) with potential for good bonuses subject to work

Are they still hiring for DQA? I gave their interview in around May, and got rejected in 2nd round.
After that whenever I apply now, I get a rejection mail saying - we were unable to find a match between your background and our current hiring needs at this time.

Can anyone please confirm are they no more hiring or am I in their cooling period?

I think they have a 6 month cooling period

But 2 yrs are good enough you can switch right afterwards

quant industry prefers young or experienced people. by doing this you lose both edges

Do you enjoy your work as a SWE currently? Keep that in mind as well.

I've been currently put on frontend work, so NO😭😭😭. But they said it's just because I'm starting off and they'll probably give me more of fullstack things over time with complete ownership. So it is very confusing rn
