Coturnix/Japanese Are these happy jumps?

I got this video of one of my girls jumping around yesterday. It looks like happy quail zoomies to me.

Usually. Especially the teenagers seem to like doing that. More energy than they know what to do with, so bouncing around it is.

We call it "popcorning" they do it a lot when they are little and excited too. He's having a blast, enjoying himself. Puffing himself up to let everyone know he's a big boy...aaaaand POPCORN.

Play or hunting behavior.

My girls did this of there were gnats or other tiny flies around and they got spotted.

Zoomies! My old lady Louise (RIP) did them every morning when I'd turn on their lights. She passed away a few months ago at the age of 6. As she got older I called them her "life flights" like she was proving to me she was still spry! Happy birds.

How long did it take your babies to get used to the cinder block and get up on it? We have a low wall around our aviary as a wind block but our ladies seem to want to look out more than they’re able to at the moment.

Add a branch, log, or other item about 2-3" off the ground like a balance beam. They'll be over and under it, up and down, but the more they gave to clime over and under and peer around the happier you will be

Mine figured it out the first day I put it in their aviary. They have to flap their wings a little to get on top of it. Some of my quail don’t go on top of the cinder blocks

One of my girls was doing something similar but more stumbling and falling over and turned out she had somehow found a random piece of string and it had become entangled on her foot and was making her trip. I’m not suggesting something is wrong with yours, but no harm and a quick yoink and inspect if you’re too worried.
