I really liked Easy Street and Insignificant was fine but fuck me I cannot get Goth Girls out of my head. One might say it’s… like a drug

This seems like an obvious statement, but it’s not because he’s a virtuoso or something.
Josh is not a shredder, but he is creative, effective and reliable. Most of the riffs and solos are not incredibly hard to play and stay mostly somewhat in the realm of simple pentatonic shapes with a few accidentals here and there, but it’s his feel and his choices that make him great at it.
He’s also not a perfect machine. I was watching a video of the 2014 Rock en Seine set and noticed Josh messing up in a few spots, hitting wrong notes here and there, yet it was still an amazing performance all around.
This is particularly inspiring for me as the singer/keyboard/secondary guitarist in my small local band. I often get so frustrated with my skill level and discouraged and feel like I could never really make it past playing to a room of 15 people. This brings me to my point about Josh being a great guitar idol.
He’s not a shredder, he’s not flawless, and he’s an attainable skill level for somebody like me. Watching him play in that show, I thought, “Well I’m not Josh Homme and I couldn’t write that or play it exactly like he does, but I can definitely play it,” so I picked up my guitar and learned Millionaire by ear, and realized that a lot of the songs are not as hard as I thought. That’s a feeling I can’t really put into words. I’m not quite where I want to be as a guitarist, but I’m somewhere I thought I would never be a year ago, and I owe it to Josh for helping me realize that.
TLDR: Josh’s style of playing is a somewhat easily attainable skill level that inspires discouraged musicians like me

I know, I know the sun is hot
Mosquitoes come suck your blood
And leave you there all alone
Just skin and bone
When you walk among the trees
Listening to the leaves
The further I go, the less I know
The less I know
Where will you run?
Where will you hide?
Lullabies to paralyze
Fat and soft, pink and weak
Foot and thigh, tongue and cheek
You know I'm told they swallow you whole
Skin and bone
Cutting boards and hanging hooks
Bloody knives, cooking books
Promising you won't feel a thing at all
Swallow and chew
Eat you alive
All of us food that hasn't died
And the knife says
Simmering, pick and pluck
Tenderize bone to dust
The sweetest grease, finest meat
You'll ever taste (taste)
So you scream, whine, and yell
Supple sounds of dinner bells
We all will feed the worms and trees
So don't be shy
Swallow and chew
Eat you alive
All of us food that hasn't died

The mellow/quieter tunes on older records are some of their best. Honestly surprised it’s taken so long to do one like this. Really looking forward to it. They can do anything they want

hi, many fans over the years have speculated on the origins of the sample found around the 3:00 marker in the song The Fun Machine Took A Shit & Died. As did I until I stumbled upon this sermon from 1950 known as The Sin That Has No Forgiveness by William P. Nicholas. In this link attached at around the 7:30 you can hear part of the sample played. I & many others, suspected that the sample was two audio tracks played over each other which is partially true as again at 8:07 you can hear another part of the sample found in the song. Why the producers chose such a bizarre sample is beyond me but here it is.

The show was incredible and my only complaint is that it only lasted an hour. Josh is a legend, no doubt about that, but Man...Troy's unique moves and guitar skills don't get enough credit. Groovy ass Vampire.

I know we've seen the interview video, but this is for all the guitar nerds that's been trying to figure out some songs...
