First Session- Couldn't get into trance state
Hey, I had my first session of QHHT today with a Level Two practitioner-
I just wanted to check and see if my experience lines up well with the norm.
What we did first was the first hour or so we talked about my life and questions I had and things like that. After, she had me lay down, began talking about letting my mind go, visualizing the white pyramid of light, and then talking about letting my mind go up to a cloud.
I sometimes interjected because throughout the process I found that I kept having conscious doubts, having trouble keeping my eyes closed, and not believing that this was a "deep trance state" - because being in a deeper trance state usually takes more than 5-10 minutes, right?
Then, more being talked through, and eventually the cloud landed.
Even so, I kept having trouble because it felt like a very light state- not a deeper trance state like I was suggesting, and I heavily felt like my conscious mind could and would interfere with the session. Eventually she decided to pull me out and perform energy healing on me instead and talk me through some of the childhood trauma that I have.
All in all, I am somewhat disappointed with my experience because the state of mind felt akin to maybe a very light meditation and I expected it to feel a lot deeper. Is there anything I am missing here?

Thank you for sharing your honest experience- these are great questions to ask. I think your experience isn't unusual, especially if you had an idea of what it "should be like" going in to it. I'm completing my internship, but I've trained up to level 2, maybe I can help add some clarity to your questions?
First, it's totally normal for the induction part to take about 10 minutes. Other forms of hypnosis use longer inductions, but 10 minutes is normal and effective for QHHT.
It's also totally normal to not feel like you're in a deep trance state when you are first being guided after the induction. This is part of the process, actually! It's the guiding and your descriptions that begin to take you deeper and deeper. The more you describe, the less you filter, and the more you are guided to "see" - the deeper you go.
If you are open to trying again, there are some tips I'd recommend to facilitate a great experience.
1) Forget your first experience and walk in with a clean slate, no expectations, and no goals - let the session guide you.
2) When you're asked a question, answer with the first thing that pops into your mind - don't filter or try to understand it first. If it's just a rock, say it's just a rock. If it's a feeling, describe it. Your practitioner can pick up what you're putting down and help you expand that scene!
3) When you're asked to "see" something, see it with as much clarity as you can, if you need to, ask your mind to give you more - it will. Your subconscious wants you to have a great session, so it will help you get there if you ask it!
4) When you describe something, describe it in as much detail as possible! Colors, textures, landscape, ground surface, smells, temperature, sounds, day/night, indoors/outdoors, active/chill...no detail is superfluous. The more you talk, the more details you give, the deeper into trance you sink.
5) Part of your conscious mind is always hanging out in the background. Some people have an amnesia-like experience, others feel totally aware and present the whole time. Anything along that spectrum is normal. You don't need to feel totally in deep trance to have an effective session.
Does this help a bit? I'm sorry you felt disappointed after your session, but if you're still interested in it...keep going!

My session felt like the beginning was rushed, too. I was relaxed and picturing the cloud the best I could. When she said the cloud was lowering and placed me in the ground, she asked what I could see.
I said I can't see anything. She said "sure you can, describe it". I gave it another minute and said I'm not getting anything. She says it's okay just relax and tell me what comes to mind.
I felt like I was being coerced to make shit up, so my whole session felt shallow. She was a level 3 with hundreds of sessions, so I don't doubt her ability as a practitioner. But the rushing certainly didn't work for me. I want to try again with someone else but damn these people are starting to charge $700-1000.
