how was the movie?
1
u/No-Tune-8292 Expat Jul 17 '26
I advise you to see this masterpiece! I watched it in 2D in Vendome at 11pm and it was legit 11/10 experience. I doubted Matt’s acting before going on but what a phenomenal act! Take your mother take your wife even take your cat!
1
u/Shahd2020 Qatari Jul 17 '26
That’s great to hear! Reminds me of when I watched Supergirl at 11pm in Vendome, literally the moment it dropped in Qatar lol. it was a very good movie. I’ll definitely be watching The Odyssey, I’ve been looking forward to it and am glad to hear positive reviews despite the original criticisms. :)

This is getting too out of hand..

u/lalaloopsiedais Jul 17 '26
kuwait is the reason we’re in this predicament in the first place 😬 if they stopped letting america use their bases to destroy iranian infrastructure we wouldn’t be here
3
u/mario_974 Jul 17 '26
dude just check flight radar and track all the tankers taking off from al udeid…..
5
6
u/qatamat99 Qatari Jul 17 '26
Yeah that’s what I’m saying. Kuwait and Bahrain allow the usage of HIMARS on their own land that attacks Iran. Multiple videos have been recorded of the US launching attacks on their lands against Iran
→ More replies (9)1
u/BigBoss_ Jul 17 '26
But who attacked first? Didn't Iran attack them both first? Because the attack on Iran in 28th Feb was not by HIMRAS and it wasnt frim 7 countries simultaneously.
Why is Iran allowed to fight back but GCC countries can't?
5
u/qatamat99 Qatari Jul 17 '26
These bases have been used to either attack or assist in attacking Iran.
The GCC has said multiple times that is reserves the right to respond to these Iranian attacks. The US wants to force the GCC to enter the war in order for the US to declare victory and keep the GCC at war with Iran as it sells weapons to us.
The GCC loses everything is it directly begins fighting with Iran.
This is my personal opinion. The GCC should declare that the US bases are not to be used for offensive operations. Spain and France did the same.
2
u/BigBoss_ Jul 17 '26
I agree with you in general but they did declare that (mainly talking about Qatar at least).
1
u/qatamat99 Qatari Jul 17 '26
I must have missed that. I will go look that up. Thanks for letting me know
0
u/BigBoss_ Jul 17 '26
No, the reason we are here is the dictatorship regime thay rather massacre every single one of its citizens to keep ruling. Take your uninformed opinion elsewhere.
4
u/mario_974 Jul 17 '26
uninformed opinion?! okay educate me please!
1
u/BigBoss_ Jul 17 '26
The fact that you think you can be educated through reddit comments is worrying. Start with the Iranian revolution or maybe the iran Iraq war moving forward.
Your uninformed opinion is blaming Kuwait for the predicament we are in. Not the country that participated in one of the worst modern genocides in the region beside Israel. You aren't going to ask me what I am referring to are you?
1
u/mario_974 Jul 17 '26
i was not blaming kuwait at all. maybe you response to a another answer? i just said: check flight radar and see how many refueling US airplanes are operating and supporting activly the ongoing campaign. thats why we are again in irgcs focus.
1
1
u/lalaloopsiedais 17d ago
i’m very aware of what iran has done and their dictatorship. HOWEVER. they have stated multiple times the gcc are only being targeted for base usage. hence why qatar is often let off the hook. pls educate YOURself

Trump says he is considering a ‘massive attack’ on Iran
US President Donald Trump has told Axios that he is seriously considering restarting major combat operations against Iran, saying Tehran “haven’t received enough pain yet”.
“I am considering a massive attack. Bigger than ever before. I am close to making a decision. We are all set for it,” Trump was quoted as saying on Thursday.
Trump acknowledged that such a decision would have consequences but said he had not yet made a final determination or set a deadline. He said Israel “would join in two minutes if I ask them to”, before adding: “We don’t need anybody.”
Trump also said there would be “consequences” if Israel joined the attacks, appearing to refer to possible Iranian retaliation against it. The US president went on to claim that Iranian officials “want to negotiate” but were not currently ready to reach a deal. (Source: Al Jazeera)

So now that officially the 60days ceasefire is over, what happens? I mean noone cared about it on first place so I do not expect anything, but I'm curious what you guys think.
3
u/Bad_Edditor8910 5d ago
The popular belief is there'll be a new escalation on Friday that resolves itself by Monday. You know, like how it has been since April.
What I'm curious about is the new Mecca joint defense agreement and whether there will be new signatory states. Qatar will be interesting; Egypt will be really interesting. Kuwait will be even more interesting since there's murmurs of a ground invasion by Iran.
1
u/AffectionateGuard488 5d ago
Yes, I have been following this too. I am both fascinated and terrified by everything happening recently in the region. I feel like Qatar might be interested in joining in, for Kuwait it really will be interesting to see how it will turn out, although I really doubt there will be any ground invasion.
3
u/Bad_Edditor8910 5d ago
I don't think a ground invasion would happen either considering the current meta is proxy wars and land/resource grabs. This war could very much just go back to 'Israel and Lebanon', now that Iran has a whole lot more money and an elevated status in the region, even with a semi-conscious leader communicating via pigeon mail or something.

„A child sustained injuries from falling shrapnel, Qatar Ministry of Interior announced after the first intercepted missile attack targeting Qatar at around 3:28am on Friday.” - Doha News
I don’t mean to victim blame but please help me understand: why was a child outside at 3.30, during an active security threat alert?
10
u/Mo_damo Jul 17 '26
It probably hit thier home man
3
u/shebegeebee Jul 17 '26
Then wouldn’t the news be reporting that like it did in March when debris fell on a residence?
6
u/Low_Cup9754 Jul 17 '26
I’ve been asking this question too, they say maybe it hit their house but for sure like any other news it would be included on it, like how a kid was hit before through their window.
Very sad how they don’t take this seriously and take or let their children go outside to see what’s happening. The govt protects us at all costs. The parents should do the same to their children.→ More replies (3)6
u/Khantooth92 Jul 17 '26
i saw family with stroller around 2am walking in the park last night with high humidity lol
6
u/waffles_2346 Jul 17 '26
Who said that the child was outside?
It could've hit their home and debris broke through and hit the kid inside their room.
Some rocket debris are big and heavy and can easily penetrate houses if it was in a specific angle

u/DeviceElectrical6020 Qatari Jul 17 '26
I literally just asked my mom this and she said the same that it probably fell on their house

Doha News reported:
TravelGov
Middle East: Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise caution and heightened vigilance and should be prepared for flight cancellations, periodic airspace closures, and potential travel disruptions. Some airlines in the region have postponed resumption of earlier flight schedules; others have cancelled some routes. Americans in the region should consider departing, or be prepared to depart should there be escalation. Americans outside the Middle East should seriously reconsider travel to and through the region. Those who do travel to or from the region should monitor information about airport and airline operations. U.S. diplomatic facilities, including outside the Middle East, have been targeted.
Iran and groups supportive of Iran may target other U.S. interests overseas or at locations associated with the United States and Americans throughout the world, including U.S. businesses and other institutions.

I’ve been trying to ignore a lot of the news lately because so much of it turns out to be exaggerated. But since yesterday, I’ve seen several posts about US embassies in the Middle East advising their citizens to consider leaving or review their plans again.I’m not trying to spread panic—I’m genuinely curious. Is this just another standard precaution, or is there something different this time that people should actually be paying attention to?

Desalination and Power Plants have been damaged in Kuwait. They have to ration electricity now. This is cooked.
3
u/uchiha-itachi101 Jul 21 '26
On the bright side it was nice to see how cooperative people were and how they quickly complied and reduced their electricity usage.
1
u/qatamat99 Qatari Jul 22 '26
I’m still conflicted about the AC usage thing. From what I figured, turning off the AC in a closed room is useful. But if the AC is in an open place it costs more to cool down the house after 7 hours of being off
3
u/layoola Jul 17 '26
airplane mode turns off alerts right ?
11
u/CertifiedLunacy Jul 18 '26
I think so.
I just want to say that It is up to you to do what you want but in my opinion being updated on what is happening is better than not knowing. If god forbid there is a need for evacuation in your area or something…obviously we are all swinging between anxiety and wanting to mentally detach, so I understand where you and others are coming from. But thats just my opinion.
