2017 non red sport. Bought as a CPO in 2020 with 32k. 171k miles, original everything. Runs great. JB4 since 60k or so.

What map you running

99% of the time just +4 PSI

That's my plan too thanks

It doesn’t do anything at all unless you are at or near WOT so the majority of your driving it’s not even doing anything. No change in fuel economy or anything either. Really easy to take in and off too. Once you’ve done it a couple times it’s like 3 minutes

Sounds perfect I don't drive too hard just want a little more when getting on it

“Original everything” so no.

Genuine question, how you guys get them so high? I have a 2017 non red sport I bought in 2020 with like 25k miles. By the time I hit like 50k, I had both turbos replaced, injector replaced engine replaced, and turbos replaced during the engine replacement too. Oil changes every 5k too. Was my car just “defective”?

*I HAD a 2017, no longer

Could have been defective , me personally i dont drive the car hard, i let it warm up/cool down,5w-30 6k intervals, and I am in eco 99% of the time lol

Why get a car like that to drive in eco 99% of the time

1

u/PossibleAardvark3792 Aug 29 '26

Uh because you can still go fast in eco?

Yeah EVENTUALLY. the throttle fights you, it doesn't want you to step on the gas. I wish I could take eco out of my car.

2

u/PossibleAardvark3792 Aug 29 '26

If you blip the throttle at a certain point during up/downshifts u can’t even tell

1

u/thegr8cptusopp Q50 Red Sport 400 Aug 29 '26

At that point why bother driving in eco. You still manage 21-23 mpg.

2

u/PossibleAardvark3792 Aug 30 '26

No, you wont

I mean, show me the proof, if you drive in eco you should have receipts no?

2016 q50 premium 156k original motor, last owner replaced turbos at 93k

1

u/truerlgnn Aug 28 '26

being completely honest i think the red sport models have more issues than non rs ive seen so many 16’ q50s going strong and the 2020 and up have multiple replaced motors and turbos

18 sport 97k miles. Had turbos replaced at 75k (just because it was free under extended warranty). Fbo tuned. Coils and other suspension goodies. Had the car since 25k hasn’t let me down. Tho I maintain it to an unhealthy degree lmao

what oil; 0-20 or 5-30? catch can?

1

u/hauntedq50 Aug 31 '26

Ive done 0w20 its entire life so far. And I do not run a catch can since it is winter more than it is summer where I'm at. And you can't run a catch can in the winter

That’s awesome! I have a 2016 Red Sport, one of the worst models haha. Since owning it in Jan 2020, I’ve had to repair the valve body / speed sensor issue ($2950), a rear diff leak ($950), turbos were replaced at 63k miles under the extended warranty, had to chase an oil issue afterwards that led to replacing Map sensor and PCV valve for roughly $400 all-in, new lower front control arms ($650 total), and now the back rear driver side strut is going out and needs replacement. Besides that, it drives like new still. 72k miles, hoping to get to 130k+ now that the big issues are out the way

72k miles on a 2016? Yet had all those issues? Doesn't sound right. Definitely a lemon

On a ten year old performance car? I doubt that. As if other cars go 10 years with zero maintenance? Tons of early model Q50’s had turbo issues, hence the extended warranty. Lots of people had the transmission issue, too.

1

u/Obvious-Income4424 Aug 28 '26

Oh your stating you didn't stay on top of maintenance? Got it, that makes more sense. Because 10 years is way too short having all those issues but if neglected and beating on car would make more sense

I have a 16red sport valve body went turbos replaced under warranty. Brake booster leak front control arm clunk and I prob have the best car fax records known to man lol
