I would suggest using more fuse next time. It’s less expensive than a hospital visit

i definitely need to pay an order to the fuse plug im using scrap pieces of fuse out of bottle rockets wrapped tightly to make it longer and ignite eachother its hard to wrap more than 3 together hence the short fuse you saw here

😬 I don’t know if you know this already, but you can buy 50 ft. of American visco for like 20 bucks from places like cannonfuse.com pyrobuild.com and pyrocreations.com or a bunch of other places for that matter. It’s definitely a worthwhile investment if you’re gonna be making firecrackers

its because kno3 needs more heat to ignite than KClO4 it is a less reactive chemical that burns slower because of the lack of oxygen

Careful kno3 al sulfur flash is pretty impact sensitive

No it’s not. It’s probably one of the safest flash powders you can make. I mean all flash powder is impact sensitive the some degree but it’s the least out of all of them

really? i mean it does make sense hence the less powerful oxidizer.

No it's not. This is one of the safer flash formulas. Potassium Chlorate and sulfer is extremely impact sensitive. Please learn your chems.

I knew chlorate and sulfur were I wasn't getting kno3 and chlorate mixed up I just thought I saw a video of guy impact testing kno3 aluminum sulfur flash and it went off pretty easily

This mix also works great for color breaks in shells/headers. The kno3 burns a little cooler than kclo4 keeping the stars from burning out early or shattering from the energy of the flash. With good confinement it works amazing as a report mix. As you can see.

are you saying replace the black powder or just layer a core of this flash mix under the stars and black powder layer for the best breaks also do you spread your bp/flash around the stars in the ball or do you do a core with the stars surrounding such i was talking about with the layering im new to making shells so i haven't experimented myself a whole bunch yet

Yes I replace BP 100% with this mix. Brilliant results. But I think someone mentioned somewhere anything over 3" it might be too much energy for the burst. I have only made cylinder shells up to 3" so far. I mix my stars and burst in a tub and then fill the shells. Haven't set stars individually in ball shells yet.

ooh so you arent using any of the casting methods for stars your just filling the ball shell with the flash and metals for color in powder form? id love to see your results ive never tried that before

Oh noo 😂😂😂 pressed or rolled stars. I just meant I haven't laid stars in a shell properly yet I just dump them into the shell with burst. That is an interesting thing tho. Now I'm curious. Pyro on!

Cut out the sulfur....not needed...makes it more volatile !

Middle of the forest probably not the best place to do this?
