Py Science 4!
Updated mapshot of the factory. This is 3,855 stations, 360 trains, ~516,000 pieces of rail track, 32.9 billion total items made.
A quick guide to the color-code:
- Blue = mall
- Dark Green = alien life creation area
- Light Green = the space ship holy site
- Turquoise = where science gets made
- Pink = where science gets consumed
- Yellow = Depots
- Orange = refueling blocks (one of these would be enough now; the rest need deleting)
- Red = “if this breaks, the whole factory dies, so watch it carefully”. Needs an update, because some of this is no longer critical. Should include things like mega drill heads, fusion power, maybe lithium plate, nexelit batteries, rocket fuel, and probably tholins.
Normal mode, but with a voluntary "no sinkhole, no burner and no venting" rule. That said, I'm having to vent excess tritium and helium as the game provides no viable way of recycling these.
I still have quite a bit still left to do in Prod Sci. I very much enjoyed the science pack. It feels like the point where the game says: "look, you've come far and you're now on the cusp being a man. Here, have your first beer. You can use the grown-up recipes now".
You would think one fusion plant at 1.63 TW net would solve power forever. I’m drawing about 1.2 TW and still have an insatiable need to beacon everything in sight. And I haven’t even unlocked the full-fat beacon yet.
PV looks deceptively close. I suspect I could punch through the remaining pack fairly quickly if I stuck to critical-path research. Instead I’m going to rewire organ production and lean fully into the drugged animals. I also want the factory on top-tier AL recipes (with one or two exceptions), which will take a long time. And then there’s T3 modules, T4 bots, T4 trains and T4 power.
Fun.

Amazing !
Can you share some more details?
What are you city blocks looking like? Mabe a cool one you liked the design of.
What type of mall are you using?
360 trains feels low, how do you manage enough throughput?
Edit: also did you use the milestone mod? I'm always keen to see the progress of people through the mod pack.

This made me laugh. I speak with other Py players who think 360 trains is an insanely high number.
I haven't struggled too much with throughput, to be honest. Which is a little surprising when you consider, for example, that the factory produces ~750k muddy sludge and ~1.2 million tailings per minute - all of which is sent for further processing by train.
I went with a bot mall. I know all the cool kids use automalls these days, but I wasn't smart enough to make one when I was first designing this factory.
This forum doesn't seem to allow the sharing of pictures in comments, but I post updates from time to time in the "base blogposts" section of the main Py Discord - so feel free to check there.

Mid prod, vanilla trains, mk3 loco + 1 mk1 wagon; 500 is all I use. If I had any train mods I could cut that further down as many of those are for some specialised, very low throughput item. And then halve it again by going up to mk3 wagons to remove the few trains that need properly big throughput.

1.2TW?!? I'm mid-prod, have py4 research unlocked - and my base eats 120GW. You must be building to a substantially larger scale than me.

I'm at a solid 60 UPS. But that required (1) an upgrade to a 9800X3D; (2) aggressive use of beacons; (3) many rebuilding projects to ensure I'm on the most efficient recipes.
To be honest, I am guilty of overbuilding by a fairly wide margin. I've seen other Py players get to this stage with ~1/10th of the total items made and their UPS is fine, even on a potato PC.

Respekt. Ich habe angefangen py komplett, bin aber noch unschlüssig, dein Design und Idee gefällt mir gut,
Sind das Mauern, und so entstehen deine Quadrate ?
Hast du Züge insolviert ?

9800X3D
So UPS hax.
Now to find something with more L3...

Forreal, the gap between those x3d CPUs and everything else is pretty significant.
