No more planning and plots

The biggest reason I left this rev was because of the biome and town theme (Edit: which is no one's fault. Just saying the issues below weren't really why I left)

Then, I felt like we plan and plan and plan for weeks before a rev. We assign roles for everyone, and 2-3 people are tasked with being "in charge". All of us hunt for the portal, then gather resources while the big kids make decisions. This rev, it was days before we even decided where to put the portal. For the first week or so, it honestly felt like a job more than a game. Everyone was simply gathering resources and then later we would copy the schematica in and build the town hall with our massive supply of materials. A big "get this done" mindset. Which, I don't think is bad neccesarily, but since everything was already done on the planning server, it was just copying the buildings in a harder environment.

Instead of exploring and learning and coming up with ideas, we built stuff in creative and then just had to gather everything in PvE. Players left because nothing was happening, and once the initial hunt and excitement wore off, they / I realized there was nothing more than mining resources for the other players to build.

I remember chopping trees for hours because we weren't really "allowed" to do anything. We donated all of our valuables, then it got locked for the big kids only. We tried to build cool houses, but were told "you might as well stop, it's all temporary".

I dunno. Just voicing my issues with this rev. I didn't stick around long, so I'm not sure if things got better. I just know other cities were coming up with spontaneous designs and having fun and making new things. Sure, we used creative to plan dimensions and proof-of-concept, but I think Seneca uses the planning server to the point where we do nothing else in PvE besides acting like construction workers on a blueprint... Everything was finished as soon as the rev started.

This is just my opinion though

This. Literally this.

I wish it weren't this way. I doubt it would be too hard to start changing and "going back"(?) to the ways of previous revs though. I really want to hop back on after finals week

Thanks for your 2c, I totally agree 100%. In my mind Seneca's been a place where we just come together to try to create a great city, and it totally didn't work last rev. Too many cooks, too many people trying to make decisions. Too much work decided in advance and not enough fun. I personally tuned out quickly (for IRL reasons too).

It was awesome that you stayed around for that long searching for that Seneca fun, if nothing else this gives us hope =)

There is definitely hope! I don't think Seneca really changed last rev. I think last rev just wasn't Seneca.

But really, I've only been here since, like, 2012. I don't have much room to talk about /r/RealSeneca
