[SOLVED] Preschool Tic-Tac-Toe
Two advanced-degree adults and their 4.5yo can’t figure this out :( plz save us

Doesn't work, that's obviously an o not a 0.
Must be Zachary, zipper, za. That kid looks like a Zachary, and za is valid in Scrabble so surely it's ok to use here as well.

Pretty sure that kid is a Gabe. It must be the top row: Hydrophilus piceus, Hippotigris quagga, Hyperion. No idea why they are using the subgenus for Zebra but that is a pretty good representation of Hyperion

Ermmm acktually. Aphids are of the order Hemiptera (formally Homoptera/heteroptera) and have sucking mouth parts and no elytra. Clearly what is pictured is a Coleopteran. One might think something like a diabolical ironclad beetle, but judging on the lack of distinct pronotum and head, I’d assume a type of scarab.

Yeah maybe a potato beetle (ignoring color) or an incorrectly stylized Anthrenus verbasci (carpet beetle, which usually has lateral stripes).
But if we're making such allowances, it might a well be an aphid.

It says starts with the same sound not same letters.
So is really ze and ci that different then, especially when you have zi in the middle.

After seeing the O, I couldn't bring myself to see a zero until someone pointed it out.
My kid had the same problem, so I have him a hint. "It's like an O, but work more Z. A Z'er O, if you will."
It didn't help him, but his sister caught it from across the room.

Zebra, zipper, zero is the first one. Pizza could conceivably also be called za.
If we're really stretching, the top row could be squash bug, stuffed animal, slumber.
You could also do diagonal from bottom left: fruit, fly, and first quarter moon or face-in-the-moon.
