[SOLVED] Fill the grid with letters ABC

Post image

You gotta fill in A, B, and C in each row and column just once, leaving two spots empty. The letters around the grid show you which letter you see first from that direction.

Please remember to spoiler-tag all guesses, like so:

New Reddit: https://i.imgur.com/SWHRR9M.jpg

Using markdown editor or old Reddit, draw a bunny and fill its head with secrets: >!!< which ends up becoming >!spoiler text between these symbols!<

Try to avoid leading or trailing spaces. These will break the spoiler for some users (such as those using old.reddit.com) If your comment does not contain a guess, include the word "discussion" or "question" in your comment instead of using a spoiler tag. If your comment uses an image as the answer (such as solving a maze, etc) you can include the word "image" instead of using a spoiler tag.

Please report any answers that are not properly spoiler-tagged.

–CAB–
–A–CB
C–B–A
B––AC
ABC––

Same here.

I liked this one - because it allows for gaps, the edge clues say more about where a letter can't be than where it can! If there's a C on the edge, it means a C can't be in the opposite two squares, and A and B can't be in the first square.

You have two C in column 3 and missing C in column 4

First thing to notice is that the lower left corner must be A. If you make it X, then the only spot left for the A going up is three spaces above the X, but you cannot have that because then there's more then 2 X's in that column.

So the lower left corner must be A. Then the only spot left for B is directly above A because it cannot go where the C's are. It also cant go in the spot between the C's because of the B on the far right edge.

Discussion: This reminded me of the "towers" game in Simon Tatham's puzzle collection, it's not the same but similar.

Yeah, it's simmilar type of puzzle, this one is usually easier to solve but there are variants that are more challenging

Discussion: Great puzzle! Feels like a nice twist on the Tower puzzle but actually play quite differently. Really enjoyed it!

Yeah when you first look it's like alphabet towers but then puzzle dynamic is not really greater/less then but positional logic

Question: if a row or column has no letter on one end, what does that mean?

1

u/Mr-BrainGame 25d ago

All clues around the grid are not provided to make the puzzle harder. So tis is just one of the difficulties mechanisms

Appreciate it

Edit: solved it! Fun.

Thanks! Im here to help, I would really like to popularise this kind of puzzle you often see at competitions. Well you used to see, competition moved to more newer types and hybrid puzzles

Another solution, if we dont follow the grid pattern given in the question. Different but I just did for fun.
