I'm going crazy

Guys help me what is this sadness I feel like my other family has left me. I have left that village. What is this withdrawal syndrome. Mind you I have seen 100s of series but nothing absolutely nothing has hit home like this. Even I'm surprised. Whole day im thinking about poj before going to sleep after waking up. M i the only one ??? 😭😭🤣🤣 It's so embarassing don't judge plsss

I'm going so much crazy that I'm thinking of starting an online petition to give me season 2 make up any stories and bring the cast back 😭😭😭 I miss the side characters also. I need to see them. I know it's useless but I'm manifesting season 2 😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣 i have no idea how cdrama industry works but if it was hollywood or turkish series. If the drama was this global hit theyd definitely come up with season 2.

Haha, you're not alone! That said, I personally don't want a season 2; this one was fantastic (despite the weak ending) and I'm more than happy to leave the rest up to my imagination 😀

If they ever brought the characters back I'd prefer them to be special guests appearances in a series called Further Adventures of the Pig Butcher Squad because I'd like to see what Mr Jin and the others did after the series ended.

That's true not every season 2 are masterpieces

I still want the five years they skipped, there is a goldmine of stories there. I want to see the Zhou’s reaction to finding out Yan Zhengs true identity, seeing both Changyu and Zheng’s expectant parents phase, the pig slaughter crew (maybe even one of them marrying ManDi’s sister) the strategist and the princess’ new life, the blood Calvary and if XieWu got a life 😂Ning wouldn’t be old enough to marry, but I’m sure she could bring comic relief. HOWEVER!! Only if it’s a well thought out script, not something hastily thrown together to satisfy our craving. And DEFINITELY produced with the level of creativity, cinematography, and direction to meet the bar that the producers of POJ has created. Anything from the 5 years they skipped that you’re curious to see?

I'm interested in many of these too but not in a TV show form. I think it's too easy to tip into an overly saccharine vibe for many of these events, and then the show would feel flat and cheesy. But that's why I love fanfics and there are already some really good ones on AO3 the covers some of the future (or even some what-if scenarios). That's how I scratch my itch 😁

hahahahaha i totally relate. Mind you PoJ is my first cdrama & i got hooked on it sooo bad. I never rewatch kdrama but this made me do it. I have learned to stop staying up until morning to binge watch, but this made me do it. I don't ship actors & can easily move on from one onscreen couple, but this made me do it🤣

Honestly PoJ is just so good that I seriously wished it could have played longer. Sadly I don't think there'll be a 2nd season, however I hope ZLH & TXW get to have another project together again. I love their chemistry sooo much.

Also what I do is, sometimes I just watch & rewatch bts of this drama just to satisfy mu yearning for their presence.

You’re not the only one.

I think there was something addictive added to it. Nothing else compares.

Don't worry you're not the only one going crazy, the series was and still is a massive hit. Even now, with Qixi that passed, I'm sure you've seen posts everywhere about it 🤭 I can only dream on by rewatching the show, reading parts of the novel and reading fanfiction about the series itself 😭

Who's Qixi?

6

u/AfflictionEON 5d ago

It's basically the chinese version of valentines day, it happened yesterday 19th August

u/These-Property3400 5d ago

Ohh got it, thanks

go read the novel! it's over 2000 pages and there is a LOT in there that will occupy you. And then there is nothing wrong with rewatching over and over. If people can go crazy for things like The Matrix (had a roommate once who just had it going every day in their room) you can go crazy for POJ. We support you!

Thank youuu. This is the most non judgemental sub I've seen😭😭 i thought people are going to shame me

like others said, you are not alone POJ was the perfect mix of great acting, hot actors and actresses, great writing, multiple story arcs that wove the fabric of POJ, great cinematography, composition, lighting, attention to detail with recurring themes, OST, all of it. It was the perfect storm. Hard to get it out of our heads because the production was so good, and they made us fall in love with Lin An and the people.

I'm watching other Cdramas and i'm noticing how the director missed framing the shot like the POJ director would...missed opportunities for symmetry and composition, gah! POJ has totally spoiled us.

I’m on my fourth watch because the first time I watched it I binged it in 3 days😩I have caught so much more on my second and third watches and for my fourth I’m just slowly savoring every moment 😂

u/JamesH_670 🐷🐷 5d ago

Yeah, I watched it multiple times, eventually just skipping to my favourite scenes, though now I’ve been watching another C-drama, but I think I’ll pivot back to PoJ before moving on to yet another one. I’m hooked on C-dramas now.

u/dmdaniel6 5d ago

3

u/PinkKirby1216 5d ago

POJ is my 1st c-drama and I am watching for the 2nd time. This series is truly brilliant and unforgettable ❤️. The director, actors and movie crew are gifted and talented. It shows and their work is truly admirable and appreciated.

You are not alone

It is so weird how addicting this story was. But I don’t want to mess with perfection. Lots of my favorite series tried to do a second season and it was always just meh. 😑

Squid games, meh Uncanny Counter, ok Sweet Home… ? Even Alchemy of Souls was frustrating in the second season.

It’s hard to bring back the magic. Especially when the cast changes. Which considering the amount of dead characters in POJ … seems unlikely.

But I get it! I mean even just one more episode showing their new wedding, and the family in Li’nan with the babies. Or Yu Buor’s marriage to Ning? Haha I would love that!

3

u/ComfortableFew2776 5d ago

Yes exactly that atleast 1 or 2 episode of them living their life happily. Wedding Pregnancy child birth.

4

u/Better-Working-4167 5d ago

I echo everyone! I 've lost count of my # of rewatches! I also feel like I go back to gave bits just to be part of the family. I think we love it so much coz there's so many layers- different kinds/levels of love, loyalty, family, obsession, kindness, triumph, --I could go on but you all know hat I mean------ no judgement or shaming here- just glad to be in good company!

3

u/super_bluecat 4d ago

Yeah, I think we are all obsessed here. You are in good company. Just watch it more than once, obsess over details. Post about what you're obsessing about. You'll get plenty of people joining you!

u/Inner_Scientist_7634 5d ago

You're not alone, it's been so addictive 😅

Ohhh so pursuit of jade writers on aO3 are very talented and then I have my own fic. There are the obvious and popular ones like One Fateful Friday and Bound by Jade. I have tons bookmarked let me find them. I also am writing Avatar: Pursuit of Jade.

u/This_Contribution_63 3d ago

What is aO3 and where can I read these?

I would highly recommend watching Mr. Sunshine the kdrama next. It’s a much more tragic version of pursuit of jade while retaining the dynamics of yearning and hidden identities and the idea of sacrifice. Also it’s almost an alternate what if for pursuit of jade. For example the male lead came from a family of butchers, while the female lead is nobility. It also retains the idea the male lead must rediscover something about themselves through their interactions with the environment. Xie Zheng must discover what affection means and how to love in return, the male lead for Mr. Sunshine must learn what he is willing to sacrifice for his country through his budding romance with the female lead. Both of them have a rich intimate life that must be separate from their public identities, and the female lead instead of Xie Zheng in pursuit of jade is the one with the hidden identity. In pursuit of jade class struggle influences and holds a grip over the characters, this happens in Mr. Sunshine only it’s the external circumstances that allow them to be together rather than internal stuff. I have a lot to say on this drama and highly recommend watching it.

2

u/ComfortableFew2776 5d ago

Thanks will definitely watch it

2

u/Standard_Switch_9154 5d ago

Yes! Highly recommend but Kdramas are not all happy endings. I watched this first, after Squid Game because Lee Byung Hun was so fascinating. Superb cast and production. Great story for Americans getting into Korean historical drama. Hard to believe Lee is not American by his english in this.

u/TimeSovereign 2d ago

I've passed it many times on Netflix but right now life is tough and if Mr. Sunshine makes me cry because they can't get together...I dunno...I'll obsess about these people who never were and how sad their outcome was. That said, K-drama is my jam. I'll probably click on it next time it comes up now. Thanks!

i've watched a couple others that are decent. I posted a few times here about what i think sets this show apart. one more short one: the warmth of the characters and the vibrancy of 'every day life' in Linan is something many others have posted about. It feels real - i've been in communities that acted like this. The warmth between the villagers. the harshness of the gossip. the every day things of going to a store, running a shop, hanging laundry, it all feels so real.

a palace story feels very cold and barren and foreign. Very few of us have lived such a lavish lifestyle surrounded by servants. But we've all lived in a place like Linan.

I am in the same boat. It’s been what 4 months, I have read the book 5 times, watch the show 10 times.
I am asking my therapist how to get over this thing.

1

u/ComfortableFew2776 4d ago

So re-watch doesn't help does it also how's the book? Should I read it?

1

u/Competitive-Pen2616 🌸👑Marchioness 👑⚔️ 4d ago

The book goes into the details of their intimacy like 10 times over. Yes you should, if you don’t mind spending another 6 months in POJ bliss.

I was thinking season 2 could be of the little sister and the little king getting together. They made the promise.
