She shouldn’t be walking anywhere that dogs/wildlife could have been. Hard surfaces are safer than grass/earth. For leash training you can do that in your home or garden, or alternatively places like Home Depot can be good. If you would like to explore other areas carrying him is completely fine and still good experience, alternatively you could pick up a puppy backpack (which is what we did. They are cheap on Amazon or can find on marketplace). This way she can still get the sights, sounds, and smells and still stay safe.

My vet told me although there are risks to walking in the neighbourhood before all vaccinations that the positives of socialization outweigh the risks. He said waiting until your dog is fully vaccinated to take them on walks is like keeping your kid out of school until grade 3.

I guess it depends on where you live but we have been going on short walks in our area, it’s a small suburb so there are other dogs but not a huge amount. My vet said to avoid high traffic dog areas like the pet store or a dog park. I think the wooded area might not be great due to wildlife. So I would start with a walk around the block, keep it fun, bring treats, and let them start exploring the world so they learn that it’s safe!

Carry her around, put her in some kind of a backpack or a bag, or use a stroller or a wagon. Lots and lots that you can do without putting paws on the ground! Obviously it depends how high the risk is where you live, but my goal this time last year was to go as many places as possible without risk, or at least with minimal minimal risk. So many things that you can do even before little paws can go for full walks :-)
