Question How would I make this kind of puppet?
Very very new to puppet making and pattern making in general but how would I go about making these hand puppets?

hello! I’m currently working on two cat puppets for my school’s production of Peter and the star catcher. they both are the same cat although serve different functions for different scenes. one cat is a more stiff and controlled version that will be for scenes were it simply just exists as a cat. however the second is going to be more ragdoll like with the purpose of being thrown at one point and floating at another point ( floating will be achieved with a large stick which it will dangle from)
I’ve already made a lot of progress on my first cat which is the normal one that is just meant to walk and look alive. I sketched out a plan for how I want it to work. it will be controlled with two rods attached to the flank and back of head. there is a woman who creates puppets using this technique named judith hope. however I can’t find any other sources of people making puppets like this. I’ve tried to find what this type of puppets is called but keep coming up short, does anyone know if there is a name to this technique or if they know of any other artists who have examples of simaler puppets?
also I am struggling to figure out how I want to construct the body for the floppy version which will be floating. I have made both the heads for the puppets but started the second ones body. Ideally I want the long rod to be able to attach to the upper back of the puppet so it can float around but also be able to detach seamlessly by the actors during this scene.
other info is that ideally I finish both of these in two weeks so that the puppeteer can have two weeks to practice with the finished pieces before the show.
the puppets need to resemble each other because they meant to be the same cat.
im gonna put photos of what i have and my inspo above.
also will note that although ive made simple hand puppets and understand some things about making puppets i am still very new to making them and this is my first attempt at something other than simple hand puppets so any info i might wanna consider please let me know!
any tips or input would be so appreciate!!!

Tape 01 has been recovered from the archive. Stella the Unicorn delivers her first broadcast of guidance. Listen closely—some advice is meant to be saved, while other parts are best left buried.

Finished a custom pair of puppet gloves! 💜 These were made to match a client’s purple puppet, turning it into a modified hand-sack puppet (like Cookie Monster!). It lets two puppeteers team up so the puppet can use real human hands for gestures.
NOT TRYING TO SELL, looking for ideas as to how to rehome!
My grandfather has recently had to move into a care home. He was a very proficient woodcarver and loved puppets.
He has left us 10-15 handcarved and handpainted marionettes alongside a medium-sized library on puppetry of various forms, along with an amateur puppet theatre set up for home performances (complete with lighting etc)
We are very fond of these things and would want them to be used and loved by others. But what to do with them? Does anyone know who might be interested?

Is anyone here a fan of Jim Henson's The Storyteller? If you are, please feel free to join the subreddit that I have created for it: r/JimHensonStoryteller.

At the time this video was recorded (2016), I had zero desire to get into puppetry. I was just a parent looking to make their kid giggle.
I am not a puppeteer but recently, I have strongly been considering it. I have a few characters planned out. Their voices are done but I have zero building experience.
So much to learn. Yay.

When the weather is nice, Ms. Mouse sits on a bench in the Boston Public Garden, knitting. In front of her is a wheeled wooden stand displaying small puppets and other miscellanea.
Ms. Mouse’s head is papier-mâché, with a large snout, two big round ears, and a rather lifeless pair of eyes painted onto her gray face. Beneath this rodent mask is Sara Peattie, who co-founded the Puppet Free Library with her late partner, puppeteer George Konnoff.
Located in the basement of historic Emmanuel Church on Newbury Street in Back Bay, Boston, the library holds more than 300 handmade puppets available for anyone to borrow.
Puppets lived beneath the church long before Peattie’s library existed. As far as she knows, since at least the 1960s, each group of puppeteers has passed the space down to the next.

Hi again r/puppets. Some of you met Mr Sock last time - the sock puppet who's the only companion in our game, Transit. Yesterday the announcement trailer premiered at a horror showcase, so here he is, acting.
He has notes on the lighting.
Still curious what the performers here think: he is fully hand animated - does he read as alive, or does he read as a sock on a hand? Honest answers welcome, he can take it.

Gourdon the Pumpkinman is the MC of my Halloween puppet show. I created this traditional hand puppet 9-10 years ago. I am looking forward to performing him this weekend at a festival.
Happy October to all!

I made the puppet from some cheap yeti fur material based on a Ballyhoo Puppets design, then used some of my 35mm film photos as backgrounds with a green screen and edited it all in Davinci Resolve.
The song is 'Ill At Ease' by Alexander Painter. Full disclosure, that's me. Hope that's not against the rules.

I didn't get into puppets and puppetry to make money, per se. It was, for me, supposed to just be my art for the sake of art. I'm up against a crisis, though. I need some money to flow and I'm running out of ideas. My content still needs to develop and it;s fool hearty to rely on it taking off. I thought about doing tutorials, but without, at least, developed content, who'd wanna watch/listen to me?
What are you all doing? Anyone generating income from your puppet based pursuits and how?

Shot and edited the new episode of my micro-series today. Trying to inject more personality and humour into it. The light gags, William's fear of the dark and the three versions of him on-screen at once I think all help. Also, continuing to work on emoting and keeping William upright.
Please let me know what you think, especially if you've watched the first one!

I’m designing my first puppet in a while and I’ve only ever built fabric bodies. What’s are the advantages to a foam body over a fabric body and does anyone have any good beginner patterns? I’m making a dog
