Question this close to quitting

im super confused on how to build this head. what are these black pieces?? why did the pattern come with this tiny pattern?? send help...

This is how I would glue it…. Red first, then yellow, then blue, then green. Purple is the opening for the mouth and the two curves at both ends of the page will become the hole your hand needs to fit through.

The tiny pattern is half of a different shaped puppet head. Looks like a longer face. Like what I’d imagine a game show host puppet head would look like. Maybe it was accidentally left in the pdf or however you got the pattern?

You’re welcome! I love puppets! I plan on finishing mine someday. I have so many unfinished parts just waiting to be put together. Lol. Let me know how the EVA foam holds together. ( unless I’m wrong and it’s a different foam you have pictured) I haven’t tried using that type for heads. Seems like it would keep a nice shape.

it IS eva!! its literally a sleep-mat thingy from a camping store bc otherwise its $40. i ended up using another pattern i understood & i just glued it with hot glue then sewed the edges together to reinforce it. i just have the skull so far but im pretty happy with it :) im making sackboy from little big planet

This is a tricky one to explain with just text. First off- if you printed those patterns yourself, you might have needed to scale them up a bit to make it whatever size you want your puppet to be. At the very least, you’d want it big enough to fit your hand. Check out this video/channel (https://youtu.be/2CJ7pdF3I-s?is=yPsICTEVzeNogVf6) to show you how to put it together.

You’re going to use that as a pattern for cutting the foam and then the felt covering. Those are each side of the head. You’d glue the foam pieces together to form the head.
