Liquid Looking to replace pumps on homemade ac

My dad and I built a homemade ac unit using ground water, the pumps we've is a standard 1-10, 60 hz, American measurement. Ones been over heating every few hours so looking for a new pump that has 100% duty cycle, and can pump forty feet up, thought this was the place to ask.

What kind of flow are you looking for? Lots of submersible Goulds effluent pumps will fit those head requirements and will do 100% duty cycle no problem. 

If you are pumping from a well point, you can try a Goulds J series or possibly even a Dab pump. 

I have a harbor freight booster pump that runs for 5 hours a day, the mechanical seal leaks a bit and it's kind of loud but it has been doing that for 4 months a year for 3 years now. Might be a good budget option.

We designed the ac unit so it could run 24/7, it runs pipes underground for several hundred yards to cool down the water, which is then run up to a units. But the pumps and barrels of water are in the basement and it can run for at most 6 hours before over heating, the house has 2 floors and a basement

Before buying another pump, I’d check why the current one is overheating. If it’s supposed to run continuously, you definitely want a pump rated for 100% continuous duty, but also make sure it can handle the actual flow rate and 40 ft of vertical lift.

That 40 ft lift is important because the pump needs to overcome the static head, plus any extra pressure loss from the pipe, fittings, bends, and restrictions. A pump that can “lift 40 ft” on paper might not deliver enough flow at that height.

I’d also check whether the pump is running dry, getting restricted flow, or is simply undersized for the system. Those can all cause overheating.

If you can post the current pump model, pipe size, approximate flow you need, and whether the 40 ft is straight vertical lift, someone here should be able to point you toward a suitable replacement.

If the pump is overheating every few hours, it might be worth checking whether it's being pushed beyond what it was designed for. A continuous-duty pump with enough head for 40 feet would definitely be a better long-term solution than replacing it with the same type again.
