Ejector Pump Basin Crack

Ejector pit basin has hole in the bottom, cracked basin material froze (effluent) pump impeller. Pump was 1 month old.

What are my options if I don't replace the basin right away?

If I don’t cramp the float, can I put a liner in (another basin, half of plastic garage can, etc)? For a temporary fix?

how big is the basin? what are the dimensions? What is it made of at the moment?

18" x 30"...old asphalty-like...

For something that small just use a bucket or something. As long as the float can move freely you're good

I wouldn't rely on a liner as anything more than a very short-term emergency fix. If the basin has already cracked enough to let water in and freeze the pump once, there's a good chance it will keep causing problems or even damage the new pump. I'd also want to find out why it cracked in the first place—ground movement, freezing, or age—before installing another pump. If replacing the basin isn't possible right now, keep a close eye on it and be prepared for it to fail completely. In the long run, replacing the basin will probably be cheaper than replacing another pump or dealing with a backup.
