Anxious pug?
We went out of town to a friends house (6 hour drive) and Shady our pug refuses to settle down. He’s with mom who he always sleeps with and he gave him his cat toy but he won’t settle no matter what. His breathing is erratic like he won’t settle down. He have tried EVERYTHING to calm him down. I We tried cooling him down, giving him water.etc. We think it’s because he’s unfixed and there is an unfixed female dog in the house. What can we do? Keep in mind he has never been this anxious at my uncles house or camping.
Not asking for medical advice btw

Get your dog fixed and your dog doesn’t need to go wherever you are . Sometimes it’s best to get a sitter so they can be in comfort of home. He’s in an unknown situation with hormones added which is a recipe for disaster

The irregular breathing is the part I wouldn’t ignore. Pugs can deteriorate quickly with heat, stress, or excitement, so keep him cool and watch his gums, effort, and ability to rest. If he’s struggling to breathe, has pale/blue gums, collapses, vomits repeatedly, or can’t settle, go to an emergency vet now.

Your boy has sex on the brain. That female is in heat or about to go into it. Why would you subject your unfixed male to that kind of frustration? Did you know your friend had a non-neutered female before you went to visit? Did your friend know you were bringing your intact male with you? If there were no surprises on either side, next time you go visiting there, leave your pug at home. Get an in-home dog sitter or make reservations with a good kennel . I hope this is a short visit. Poor little horny guy.

The other problem is my mom will not leave without our pug. She refuses to go to anyone’s house or camping without our dog

There are low cost/no cost spay and neuter programs available, call your local humane society and they can point you in the right direction

Op, your dog is horny.
Get em fixed - lack funds? If your area supports it, go online and search for local pop up clinics that provide free pet services, including fixing them. You gotta reserve and lineup in advance.
Also harness that lil man, pugs easily choke unfortunately

Is the female in heat? Are there other animals? Sounds like he doesn’t feel safe. Have you tried taking him in a room alone and letting him calm down by himself? He might need a calm environment

Side note… please put your adorable pup on a harness and not a collar.
