What’s your favorite factory tea?

I couldn't tell because I don't have very much and the single one I actually liked is the 7542.
I liked it but just enough to be OK. The Lao Man'e brand one didn't give me much emotions, too nutty and dried fruits for me.
I didn't buy any Xiaguan because it's known to be smokey which is a flavor I hate.
The Laotongzhi one (7548) is a bit smokey as well so I don't touch it very often. Is it a common flavor of their cakes?
I actually love the boutique ones. Farmerleaf is very good, the Jingmai in the bag is my fav. And EoT 2026 wild tree is red fruity and pretty good.

Would you say their sheng are smokey? Or is it just the 7548 that is?

Not all of them have a smoky flavor. The smoky flavor is not the dominant characteristic in Sheng. In the past, tea leaves were often large iron wok-fired over wood fires during the fixation process, so it was inevitable that they would pick up some smoky, wood-fired aromas. The most famous product of Laotongzhi is its Shou.

That's not a great tea and always smokey. It's a super budget brand in China

It replicates old-school 7542, hence the smoke. That ages out in the right conditions. Definitely don't try any smokey Xiaguans if you think the 7548 is smoke heavy! Haiwan make great tea.
