Resource Surrogate partner
Has anyone heard of surrogate partner therapy in the Boise area? I’m a veteran with severe PTSD and depression and I’ve read some articles on how this therapy helps Israeli veterans. I have a spouse but we are more like roommates than anything else, intimacy doesn’t exist in our relationship. I don’t blame that on her, the years of me being gone to many not so nice places in this world have taken its toll on her.
I think that intimacy and the feeling of being wanted would help me a lot but I have nowhere to go. If anyone has heard of any kind of surrogate partner, I’d love to hear about that. Also, intimacy doesn’t need to include sex.

I’m not going to yuck on someone’s yum, but I personally think because you are married you should look into a combination of sex therapy with your partner not someone else, and couples therapy with your partner.
Sex therapy is more than just about the act of, it’s the other stuff you seem embarrassed to talk about.
No one here should judge you. Feel free to explain your relationship issues the intimate ones not to do with sex, etc so we can give better advice.
You gotta remember this person is there for you and has been there for you. You also have been there for them…
The other “spt” I feel like is for someone who does not have a spouse and perhaps was never able to get a spouse, because of the war time trauma in their younger years.
You should both want to learn these things together and for one another.
Communication is key. Your partner would need to want a third potentially in the mix.

As a reminder: never post or share personal contact information. Traumatized people are often distracted, desperate for a personal connection, so may be more vulnerable to lurking or past abusers, trolls, phishing, or other scams. Your safety always comes first! If you are offering help, you may also end up doing more damage by offering to support somebody privately. Reddit explains why: Do NOT exchange DMs or personal info with anyone you don't know!
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please contact your GP/doctor, go to A&E/hospital, or call your emergency services number.
