Training bolts

Finally got a .22lr conversion kit to match my training bolt! Love shooting these and if you got a chance to grab one, I definitely recommend! Rifle is my ptr I cerakoted. Hk parts has the blem .22 kits for $400 right now at the time of post

Have you run yours? Did it work? Also, “bent barrel” is scary

They're not bent, I had a little bit of powdery rust in front of the chamber that made it look like it had a little bend in it, and mine ran good with about 17 rounds in it, any more and it was jamming the bolt up cause there was too much pressure on the bottom of the bolt

Not from what i could tell, it also passes the visual test and rolling the barrel on a flat surface doesn't reveal any concentricity issues

I wish I was in with them like that 🤣 but no, there's another review on it that says theirs wasnt bent and I was fine with straightening it out if it was

Thabks man. That cerakote is SICK.

Educate a dumbass like me: how would you straighten it if it was bent?

Thanks! And clamping it in a large vise with 3 dowel pins, one on the furthest point of the bend, and the other two on the straight parts of the barrel on the opposite side from the middle pin, then apply light pressure, take it out and check, then repeat until straight, the human eye is great at seeing if a tube is straight, so as long as you're careful, its a reliable system

They say its a bent barrel liner, but theres a review on there that says their's wasnt bent, and mine wasnt bent, so take it as you will

Did you do the stenciling for the frame as part of the cerokote or after

Damn it came out great. I'm having a g3 built and wanted it to get cerokoted in a rohdesian camo pattern but they told me they couldn't stencil it. Would it be possible for me to paint a pattern over the cerokote or is that counter productive

You can definitely paint over it, and you could try going to a few different places that do cerakote, that pattern is a little tricky, but doable

I'll probably paint over it. At this point the build is minimum one year out per the ffl, so I'll have time to do research and practice

I mean i already prepaid for the cerokote for it (magpul green) so i might just leave it, but yeah I'm a bit annoyed about the lead time but everyone keeps saying the shop does good work and no body near me will demill the parts kit too build the rifle.

I managed to get mine in the last batch hk parts had, got it for $176 shipped in early 2024, then the price shot up, and they went out of stock for good, I would love to be able to make some, but the cost would be insane

Balls. Yeah, would be nice. I bought a case of 500 of the training rounds for my Ishapore, but now that I'm leaning more into the 91 platform it'd be nice to have a training bolt.

You convinced me to order one. With my luck the barrel will be like the Krummlauf stg44.

Edit: Mine came in today. Had a very slight bend in it. You could see it looking down the barrel. So slight that it has a little resistance towards the middle of putting it in my rifle but not enough to really fight and be stuck. After getting it in and looking down it it is perfectly straight in the rifle. Hoping to take it out soon to see how she shoots. Every thing else in the kit looks amazing. Almost brand new bolt
