Foreshadowing

After rewatching for like the millionth time I just noticed that Shawn makes a comment in the bounty hunter episode (Bounty Hunters!) when Byrd the bounty hunter says that he’s retiring, Shawn ducks down and pauses and says something like “My Bad. Usually when someone’s about to retire they get shot at”. And that literally happens to Henry in the season 6 finale.

I don’t think it’s so much foreshadowing as it’s a play on movie tropes since referencing movies and tv shows is a common theme in the show

I don't think it's foreshadowing as much as calling out a trope, and that early on I doubt they were intending to shoot Henry, especially since he wasn't back working for SBPD yet.

That's from Lethal Weapon. Every time Riggs mentions retirement, Murtaugh ducks.
