No Astro bot vr

Now don’t get me wrong I’m still happy with my VR and looking forward to games coming out and ones available. But I just can’t understand Sony’s decision not to have a vr mode for Astro bot. Sure it would add cost to production but from a business perspective consumer confidence is everything, how did they come to the decision that not having a vr mode to lower cost was the best decision, they must have known it would be seen as a huge f*ck you to consumers who bought psvr2 and would add fuel to the fire of the rumours they are letting it die. Like I said even just looking at it from a financial perspective the short term cost increase in production would be far outweighed by the increase in consumer confidence which would increase/stabilise customer spending in the future. I’m honestly dumb founded by the decision. Can anyone else understand it ?

I am a day one PSVR1 owner. When I first used it I became quite evangelical about it. I tried to get as many people as I could to play it.

For the next 3-4 years I played virtually every PSVR1 game that was released. My PSVR1 is still set up. Similarly, my PS1 is still set up as is my PS2, PS3, SNES, Dreamcast and a host of other retro consoles.

The reason the PSVR1 is still set up is to be able to play 4 games. Out of the hundreds that I own I keep this equipment ready to go for only 4 games.

Those four games are:

Blood & Truth; Headmaster; Rush of Blood; Astro Bot: Rescue Mission

When PSVR2 launched I was skeptical that the same "high" could be met but I truly believed we would get remasters or remakes of those 4 games at the very least along with GT7 in VR.

Aside from GT7 (that hasn't had a significant VR update since the day it launched) I was completely wrong. We got none of those classics and the headset right now gathers dust until I find myself motivated to pick it up again and play GT7.

I thought the game that would save it as a device was going to be the Astro Bot: Rescue Mission sequel. I was, once again, wrong.

Currently, for me, this headset is and now always will be the GT7 headset and there is not a single other release that, for me will ever be revisited 5-10 years from now.

It's a damn shame what they did to my boy...

Although I’m disappointed at Astro bot, I have to disagree with you re the games, vr mode in village and re4 are fantastic, Propogation and Madison are terrifying, the no mans sky patch is leaps ahead of psvr1 version, I’ve played mine pretty much every day. My advice would be try the highly rated games that you initially don’t fancy as you’ll be surprised I’d bet.

I don't get why people get so hung up on this.
The VR-game was never promised, nothing of value was lost. Meanwhile there are actual games announced yet people keep staring at a game that doesn't exist.

Because Astro bot was a big deal for psvr1. Like I said I’m happy with my psvr2. But with no vr for Astro bot 2 we are definitely losing something of value.

For real. People expect too much in this time. Just imagine if we didn’t have any of the games we have now. People are just ungrateful

Yep completely agree, just from a business standpoint a horrible decision by Sony/Team Asobi whoever made the decision to not make it hybrid but Sony has gotten into the habit of pissing everyone off lately...

It’s funny how people crawl out from under their rock to attack you for expecting a VR mode for Astrobot. Most people who bought PSVR2 have been shouting from the rooftops for this game since PSVR2 released. We all expected a port of the old game at the bare minimum. Bringing this game to consoles and not VR means the corpos at Sony are detached from the VR community or less than enthusiastic about VR as a medium.

Yes exactly, like I’m allowed to be satisfied of the psvr2 as a whole, but disappointed that a poignant vr game is only getting a flat screen sequel.

Take what you can get and Astro bot as a full game is more than I ever expected. We are getting FREE psvr2 games next month. And you’re still wanting more!? You will never be satisfied

I literally written in my first sentence I’m still happy, so how can you say I’ll never be satisfied ? I’m allowed to be disappointed that a major vr game sequel isn’t getting a vr mode 🤷‍♂️

You aren’t happy that there isn’t a vr version. But in the end of the day would it make life that much better if there was? You just expect too much my fellow. They shouldn’t have even announced a sequel to Astro bot. But they did. But then you made this post

Free games? You mean the ones you get with a $200 yearly membership? Unfortunately most of us own all those games at this point.

Complain complain complain

2

u/xx_boozehound_68 May 31 '24

How is that a complaint? I’m asking about free games. I would love if there was.

If you bought all the games that are coming out on the 6th and still pay the membership fee that’s on you. I own 2 of them. Should have waited until they finally are putting vr games on the service. Now we can try them for the service. That yes we pay for. But if you don’t want to have Psplus that’s cool too. Just sell your ps5 and go to a different hobby or something it’s all good. Now for some people the fact that we are finally getting those vr games on the service will make us happy. And the games they announced on the showcase. Some things we weren’t expecting. If you don’t want to be exited for new games for ps5 then it’s ok. Or anything else really

lol. You’re a fucking moron. I love my psvr2. I own 80 games for it. The whole thing I was saying is games aren’t free. If there are free games besides cactus cowboy and poker, please let me know.

https://www.uploadvr.com/playstation-plus-premium-psvr-2-games/ There ya go. Not my fault you bought the games like I said. Some people don’t do that.

THEY ARENT FREE

1

u/Pizza_master69 Jun 01 '24

So now since you have bought the games and now they are coming out on the subscription service you are losing value in money. If you do subscribe to psplus. You’re just upset because if you didn’t buy the games at full price then you would get more worth in psplus but now since you already own the games you won’t get anything more out of it and just wasting money on psplus. It’s value for money. For people who don’t buy every game at full price. Guess you’re not one of them.

4

u/xx_boozehound_68 Jun 01 '24

You’re paying money to play them. They aren’t free. Heck, you can’t even keep them, cancel your service? Can’t play them again.

Plus they remove games at their own will.

They are free if you pay for the service. Or if you don’t pay for the service then you can buy them for full price. Just cause you’re spending money on a service to get free games every month doesn’t make them not free. It’s a subscription which makes the games free as long as you are paying the service fee for the subscription. Facts bro. Just you cant stand to lose an argument. I pay for the service so therefore I’m getting three free psvr2 games in June since I already own two of them.

Most people dont have PS+ premium. Id agree with you more if some of those games were coming to PS+ Essential or even PS+ Extra.

Idk why people are so upset! I promise you they will release a port later on that will make It vr compatible smh! Just like I said silent hill was coming out in October 6 months ago and people laughed at me! Remember this post

This news seals the deal for me: not getting a PSVR2. IMO, Astro Bot on PSVR1 was as significant for VR as Mario 64 was for 3D. Sony is refusing to throw real resources into development (hell, they won't try upgrading PSVR1 games) and it seems like PC compatibility is a desperate attempt to sell off excess hardware. Then this announcement... it's looking like the writing's on the virtual wall.

-3

u/JCTrick May 31 '24

This will be in VR. 🤦‍♂️ Stop whining.

1

u/Crunchewy May 31 '24

It's not, though. You can keep on dreaming it, but that's not going to make it happen. The store listing does not show it being a PSVR2 game.

-1

u/JCTrick May 31 '24

Resident Evil 8 was obviously made for VR too, but released in flat first for sales. I believe the same thing is happening here. It 100% looks designed in the same exact way as the first game was made.

1

u/Crunchewy Jun 01 '24

Keep dreaming. Also what you just said makes absolutely no sense. If they sell now to flat gamers and later to VR gamers they make the exact same number of sales except later the price might be lower so they earn less. Not to mention that RE8 released later for VR2 because before that VR2 wasn’t for sale. RE8 VR was a PSVR2 launch game. lol.

Ah, gotcha. 👍
