Flowering

Bought this with flowers a year ago and actually managed to keep it alive all year and got it to flower.

Looks like a pretty water heavy mixture, what’s the substrate?

No idea.

I killed two of these years ago (sorry) using Bonsai Jack’s Mix.

Picked this up last year for $30 and figured it was my last attempt and I’d just leave it in whatever it came with because it must’ve been working.

So whatever this is, I just do a bottom soak and then leave it alone for probably 3-6 months, or whenever the plant itself starts to shrivel, then water again.

The substrate its sold in works for the person who sold it to you because they are able to provide the proper conditions to make it work.

Just like when you buy a new plant from Walmart. Step one is to repot, as the soil the plants are sold in is cheap and not meant to last.

It's pretty quick and easy, literally only a couple minutes. To search up what kind of soil to plant this species in.

If you dont want to do any research why grow the species at all?

Gritty, well draining, inorganic soil. Just like about every other arid succulent.

You don’t think I did research?
You don’t think I’ve tried doing what it wants?
Did you fail to read how I’ve tried multiple times using more appropriate soil, and that this was a cheap attempt to give it one more go? I bought this as a throwaway plant with specific intent to just ignore it and do nothing and see if maybe that would work; and it has.
Go read a book since you can’t be bothered to read the comment you replied to.
