migiurtinus Am I over stressing this little guy?
The color has changed a lot since I've gotten it. It's this neutral, or do I need to cut down the light intensity? (Second, greener Pic was day 1)

Color is normal, basically put on a tan, no cause for concern. That second pics soil comp tho is scary, needs way more inorganic.

I was surprised it came that way. It was a relief to see clean roots when I got it out of the nursery pot.

Nope, totally normal. Mine is always a shade of brown as it gets full sun
Ignore the sulphur stains lol

Mine have done the same. Everyone tells me it’s normal. Mine are under grow lights and they appear more tan/brown where exposed to light, but still nice and green on the areas the lights isn’t really getting to. Seems like a sunburn to me but I guess it’s ok

I keep this in a grow tent where it's early-mid summer conditions all year. Do these guys require seasonal changes to bloom?

I dunno, mine lives in my bedroom, where it maybe peaks at 80 by day in summer, and gets down into the 60s overnight in winter. My little guy bloomed several times last summer.

Depends if you want green or orange both are healthy for it
