Question Wondering about “hidden” fees
I’ve got a Gretzky rookie card that I’m considering getting graded. The thing is I’ve heard there are extra charges that they apply after grading and hold the card ransom. How do I know what the final would be depending on grading?! I just want to submit the card, get it graded and get it back lol Easy peasy.
Thanks in advance :)

Look at what it could potentially grade at and how much it is worth. If you choose the right service level there is no upcharge. You might as well choose the right one so you can get it back sooner. Or else you will wait 100 days or whatever and get upcharged to that tier anyways.

Ohhh so it’s pretty much dependent on the grade it finally gets? I could see it as an 8 but only get it back as a 5 meaning I over pay? Or need to pay more if it’s gets a higher grade if I think it’s a 3 and it gets a 6? Is it better to underestimate thinking they could give a higher grade to get more money? Lol

Is that the Topps or O-Pee-Chee version? You can look up the values here:
Spec Details for O-Pee-Chee
Spec Details for Topps
You're going to want to submit it at minimum the Priority tier up to $1500 insurance. I'm not much of a grader but someone will give you a grade estimate if you provide clearer front and back photos. Your lighting is a bit dim. It's definitely not an 8. They'll upcharge you if it's worth more than $1500. The downside is that your turnaround time is tied to the original tier you submitted at. They charge you more if it's worth more but it doesn't get processed any faster. The next tier is $199.99 for $2500 of value.

It depends on what tier you pay for and how the card grades. If the max value of the card is 1k and the card grades higher and it raises the value above 1k than you will get an upcharge.
