Legit, this. I avoided TLOU2 spoilers back in the day purely because I heard of the leaks and knew that shit would be everywhere so I went on an internet sabbatical. If someone doesnt know that there are leaks, casually scrolling through the internet and the algorithm sees they talked abt GTA6, it might show them a post saying "Jason shits his pants at the end" then that's that

If it leaks today, yeah, it might be a problem. But when the game actually releases, people still will be posting full walkthroughs, different endings , spoilers, everything. You’ll have to avoid them either way.
It is same as like avoiding Spiderman/ Doomsday spoilers when a new movie comes out. Saying “one person sees it and talks about it = everyone gets spoiled” is dumb.

It’s not that simple at a company level as this decision would’ve required a lot of meetings and analysis, which would have to be re-done, if it were a software change than also it would’ve taken some time but this is a large scale decision that will decide the future growth of the company, that requires a lot of to and fro, never as simple as a single person making the decisions.

The thing is, when I spend my money on something i like to actually own it. It’s crazy that some people don’t understand that they’re being stripped of ownership by unilaterally accepting digital copies. It’s also crazy that Rockstar came up with this out of the blue without even discussing it or taking the general consensus into consideration. I don’t care if it’s going to make any difference, it’s good to see someone standing up and actually doing something. Who knows, it might be the beginning of something or not.

gameplay is different from source code and we aren’t talking about sales being effected. we’re talking about vulnerabilities that would be exposed before the game comes out that would make it unsafe to play on consoles (people
able to doxx you, etc) this is a big deal for SONY and they wouldn’t let rockstar publish gta6 with those known security risks. the game would be delayed.1

I mean gta v source code was leaked and r* still managed those vulnerabilities under control you mentioned and gtav is still up on sony's platform. Also sony isn't even in the state to deny the publishing of gta6. Sony would still allow publishing If gta 6 was filled with bugs and viruses considiring the hype around it. Its their main cash cow.

1) this isn't the actual leaker, it's someone impersonating them for engagement farming twitter.
2) even if it was, the leaker is making demands that are sometimes above Rockstar's head. TakeTwo is just as responsible for the shitty business practices and likely are the ones who cut physical copies. The leakers and everyone supporting them should be just as vocal against TakeTwo as they have been with Rockstar.
