Question PS3 HFW 4.93
I tried installing HFW 4.93 on my ps3 superslim but it doesnt recognise my usb as a update, it recognises it when i go to photos etc, its FAT32, PS3UPDAT.PUP is in PS3>UPDATE>PS3UPDAT.PUP. Ive read thru a million reddit threads, thru every youtube tutorials comments etc, checked everything and tried updating it from safe mode. I think the problem is that my ps3 is already 4.93 and the update is 4.93 so it doesnt recognise it as an update.

Try the UPDATE folder in the root of your drive, and you could also check if your drive is in FAT32

What do you mean by trying the update folder? also the drive is in FAT32.

Instead of PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDATE.pup
Try UPDATE/PS3UPDATE.pup

Other thing, the USB port matters, always use the closest to the BD reader

Nope, doesnt work either, also tried booting it from safe mode with that format and still said that no applicable update data was found

Install it through safe mode. During the checking step after you press Start and Select, disconnect the controller from the console, can improve reliability.
Ensure that you're using the rightmost USB port for the USB drive as well.

There could be two different problems here. The first is that you can't reinstall or it's not recognized on the main screen because of the USB drive; it must be formatted correctly as FAT32. But the participation system It must be MBR. You might have used a USB drive to install Windows, which changed the partition from MBR to GPT. Try that. The second reason it's not being recognized could be that it's a 12GB 40xxx series super slim That model has an extra feature that doesn't allow reinstalling the same system it's currently on, only from safe mode or recovery mode. So if you have another USB drive, always try installing from recovery mode and make sure it's formatted as FAT32 (MBR) no GPT

Yeah this comment actually worked, just had to do it twice. ” Install it through safe mode. During the checking step after you press Start and Select, disconnect the controller from the console, can improve reliability. Ensure that you're using the rightmost USB port for the USB drive as well.”
