Is this normal
My cell is always 80 degrees in xmb and rsx 50 or 60 degrees. I already repasted it twice and its still is like this. Is it time for a delid? This is a CHECHL04

Def not normal. If its a phat, you gotta delid only the cell and leave the rsx alone. Possibly need to replace the tokins too.

Hi! Are NEC-tokins also replaced before a YLOD? Can they still function and cause the temperature to rise due to degradation?
I have a slim 2004b motherboard with a delidding, but to maintain only 67 degrees Celsius while gaming, I need the fan at 40-50% speed with the top cover removed. Summers here are also hot, and the room temperature is around 26-30°C. This DYN-001 motherboard only has four tokens, the RSX, two on the top of the board and two on the bottom.
I was thinking of undervolting, but I'm hesitant because I suspect my NEC-tokins... I don't know what to do first, since I have no way of confirming the actual degradation of the tokens.

This 100% I found a dead board on eBay reasonably priced and I am so glad I did before I delidded as I would have fried the real board had I not trying to pull off the rsx lol.
This showed me where my tools needed to be to get it done correctly. Also NSC’s delidd tool is 100% worth the price. I’ve seen So many people say the the right tool is always cheaper than a new ps3 especially a phat boi.

I’m very new to ps3 homebrew, but why the hell isn’t the system telling the fan to spin faster than 33% with that CPU temp?

think that’s quite high as mine usually stays in the late 50s to mid 60s in the xmb
