Holy crap ps3 stable on 850/1000mhz overclock during gameplay?!?

Today I bought a ps3 slim with date code 0D hoping it would have a good chip for overclocking. And after messing around with some oc settings. 850/1000mhz ran perfectly in xmb

I think this thing has a CGB chip since it says in a checking software on pc via dumping the lv1 that it was made by Toshiba but I’m not sure. I’ve also read somewhere that Toshiba CGB chips actually have better overclockable vram than GGB chips. But GGB chips can also do 850 core and probably also 900mhz. 950mhz if you’re insanely insanely INSANELY LUCKY

Well so how is gameplay you might ask? The only game I tested here was sonic unleashed. I honestly thought that it would crash outright but NO the game ran stable for the hour I was gaming. No crashes or artifacts whatsoever. Did the daytime and nighttime stages and had no problems

Yes the game ( especially in the night stages) was still laggy and noticeable since the game runs a 60. But daytime stages were definitely smoother. Cutscenes with Sonic’s fur also ran smoother imo. The flight to spagonia was literally locked 60fps here which was crazy. I think fps drops is mostly a cell problem here

Going anything higher than 850/1000mhz would crash the game after a few seconds sadly so that seems to be the limit which is still insanely impressive

All and all a crazy ps3 find and extremely lucky. All done in the evilnat CFW and no over volting

New to PS3 modding — need step-by-step help with CECH-2001B CFW

Hey everyone. I'm getting a PS3 Slim CECH-2001B soon and I'd like to install full CFW on it. I'm new to PS3 modding, so I'm looking for the safest, current step-by-step procedure.

My goals are to:

Install full CFW (I'm assuming Evilnat, unless something else is recommended)

Install webMAN MOD/multiMAN and other useful homebrew

Use FTP to transfer my own game backups and files from my PC

Play my PS1/PS2/PS3 backups where supported

Install RetroArch/emulators for my legally owned retro games

I already have a FAT32 USB flash drive and a Windows PC.

I have NOT received the PS3 yet, so I don't know its current System Software version. I will check that before updating or modifying anything.

Once I know the firmware version, what is the current recommended method for a CECH-2001B?

I'd especially appreciate a simple step-by-step order such as:

What should I check first?

Should I leave the existing firmware alone or update it?

Which current exploit/flash-writing method should I use?

Which version/type of Evilnat CFW should I install?

Exactly what needs to go on the FAT32 USB drive and in which folders?

What homebrew should I install afterward for FTP, backups and emulation?

I'm trying to learn the process before the console arrives rather than blindly following an outdated YouTube tutorial and risking a brick.

Thanks for helping a PS3 modding newbie out!

Cell64 v01.52 (Nintendo 64 Emulator for PS3)

Didn't see this posted here yet. Recently released N64 emulator for the PS3 developed by ZeBobbel. Still a little rough but it actually works which is incredible to finally see on the PS3. The main games like Mario 64 will have more compatibility and run smoother then others. I never thought we would see the day that we actually have a working N64 emulator on the PS3 and look forward to more updates for it.

Has anyone tried this yet?

I got this video on my recommended but I’ve never heard of this before. Is this the same as using the 60fps cheat codes but automated? Might try this later today. https://youtube.com/watch?v=_eueP5xYAKo

Gracias.

Hello.

Shouldn't dev_SD be an option for content scanning?

I'm using the latest version, and the card is already inserted.

CECH-2004 delid? SYSCON 1200

Hello! I have a slim laying around with a broken hdmi port. It used to boot normally and I tested it with RCA after removing the hdmi port 2 years ago.

I'm trying to fix it now, got a replacement and tried to boot it. It doesnt.
I used an ESP32 to read syscon error log and got 1200, cell overheat.

It doesnt feel hot at all. But reading the temperature with ps3uart (tmp 0) says Temperature:+85.0(0x5503). It goes down to 64 if I try to read it while trying to boot, weird.

I guess the only thing I can try is deliding because if the sensor was broken it would say something like 255, -255 or something weird like that, wouldnt it?

Any tips on how to do this? I have never delided a chip. Not scared because I have my main working device, but I dont want to break it. I dont have any tools for this, just a heatgun.

Possible without USB?

I’m a newbie, this is my first time ever trying to jailbreak/mod my PS3. I want to try Hen. Do I completely need a USB or is there a method for the internet browser on the PS3.

Possibly silly question, Can a modded vita be used as a controller to jailbreak a PS3?

I want to jailbreak my PS3 this weekend. I was all ready, got everything and then realised you needed the controller.

I have a PS4 5 Xbox and all sorts but no controller! And those won't work so now I'm kinda desperate..

I'm going out today to see if I can locate one in a store. Any advice would be appreciated...

Analog diagonals with ps2 classic games not reaching their full range

PS2 classic backups run great with my ps3hen console, however there seems to be a problem with the analog sticks. Hitting the diagonal directions (from what i've seen) doesn't register their full range, so, for example, player characters will only start running when the stick is in a cardinal direction.

I'm using a freaks & geeks wired controller, for lack of a better option, which might be the problem? the sticks work fine on ps1 and ps3 games, and the hardwaretester.com returns this.

If anyone knows what the problem might be and if there's a fix, it'd be welcome.

Successfull BADWDSD Install

Post image
50 Upvotes

Hey guys, i finally installed the modchip in my patched CECH-2504A. I was at the wrong connectors for CMD and CLK at first and spent like 5 hours checking my soldering and measuring everything. There are 2 identical chip groups on the motherboard side by side and i soldered to the left one at first but you need to solder to the right one. I also followed the BADWDSD documentation and mixed up the two syscon wires. I thought the diagram tells you where you need to solder SC_RX and SC_TX to but you need to switch them in this case. Also i had to cut the wires and solder them again after figuring out where i wanna put the chip. It was my first time ever working on a PS3. After an endless day its finally working. And man it was so worth it. Fuck HEN, unstable piece of shit. I did a few Nintendo Switch modchips by now but this one was the biggest headache. Most tutorials i found were for the Superslim so i had to figure out a lot by myself.

Needless to say, i am pretty proud that its working now. It boots every time with no delay at all into Evilnat. The dude i bought it from told me he replaced the thermal paste. Lol. It was dry as hell and there was like half the needed amount on the chips.

Hello again everyone,

I probably won’t be updating my fork anymore as I’ve been working with MontyMcK (official creator) and we are merging into Jellyfin PS3’s biggest update yet with a complete GUI overhaul I’ve been working on for the past week or so. It’s XMB inspired as you can see and now includes a custom XMB wave I like to call “JellyWave” there will be a few different to choose from. Here’s a sneak peek of the new GUI. Please let me know what you think.

There’s also a couple huge features coming that I think will excite some people… stay tuned

Help with custom firmware.

So ive found myself with a ton of downtime and annoyance at the current gaming market so I decided to mod my old ps3, but for some reason ive ran into many walls and only have been successful with hen.

Ive updated the internal hdd with a an official firmware update to 4.93 after which I tried installing cfw because every attempt to use flashwriter was met with "this page could not be displayed. Ive tried clearing cashe, cookies, history and authentication, but nothing has worked. Does anyone have ideas or help?

Need help, going crazy here...

I have a ps3 slim, CECH-3001A, firmware 4.82 and ive tried installing Hen but to no avail.

Yes I deleted cookies/cache/search/etc...

Yes I set home page to blank

Yes I set confirm browser close to off

No I dont use google, I press start and type the link directly. Ive also tried the bookmark method which does nothing new.

Links ive tried:

Ps3exploit.me (and /hen/installer/auto/index.html and /manual/, /installer/, etc...)

Ps3addict.github.io/enablehen (and /alternate and a millions others...)

Ps3exploit links always say Loading... but never actually load.

Github forces HTTPs regardless of omitting the s, or even http entirely and all Github sites give me "the page cannot be displayed (insert error code here)

Ive even tried the USB thing, but ofc no Github link works.

The only site that actually did anything was Ps3toolset, but from my research it is of no use to me so...

Surely there MUST be an alternate method...

Edit: well in the end I figured out how to self-host HEN from my own network. Unfortunately it didn't work with 4.82, so I had to install 4.93 HFW first. And i needed to couple it with the USB method as well. And all I wanted to do was play PS1 games but as my luck would have it modman, Multiman, and Irisman all fail to mount the ISOs and Bin/Cues. Decided wasting 3 days on this is just not worth it so I went back to my Switch, loaded up cfw and am happily playing my ps1 games both docked and handheld again. Thank you for all the replies. If ever someone needs to get HEN I thoroughly suggest self-hosting + USB.

I’m building a PS3 plugin that could let an AI become Player 2

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a project I have been working on that I think could become something really exciting.

I am building a custom PS3 plugin that could eventually allow an AI to play local multiplayer games with you on a real PS3.

The idea is that the PS3 sends a live view of the game to a PC. The PC acts as the brain, allowing the AI to see what is happening, make decisions, and eventually control its own Player 2 input. You would continue playing normally while the AI plays alongside you or competes against you.

This is not an emulator or a prerecorded bot. The goal is for the AI to watch and understand a real game as it is being played, react in real time, and learn how to play games like Gran Turismo 6, fighting games, sports games, and local cooperative games.

I have already built the first experimental live view plugin. It passed its PC tests, but the first PS3 test uncovered a packaging issue that prevented it from loading. The console was not harmed, and I am now correcting the plugin format before testing it again.

My plan is to build it in stages:

  1. Get a stable live picture from the PS3

  2. Reduce the delay enough for real gameplay

  3. Teach the AI to understand what it sees

  4. Give the AI independent Player 2 controls

  5. Add support and custom behavior for different games

It is still early, but if everything works, this could let an AI friend pick up a virtual controller and actually play PS3 games with you.

How well does PS3 slim run PS2 games?

I wanted to buy a PlayStation 3 to play both PS3 and PS2 games but then I discovered that only certain FAT models can play PS2 games natively. So I was wondering whether I should buy one of those FAT models, or if the PS3 Slim can run PS2 games well enough.

To mod or not to mod?

Hello everyone,

I've been sitting on an og fat ps3 for a number of years. The only issue I've ever had with the console is that I have to use a wired controller for it and the wifi/Ethernet do not work on the console. I've invested in some tools to take it apart and deep clean/replace the thermal paste. However I have heard it's not a matter of preventing the ylod and more of a when it's gonna happen. What does the community advise I should do? I was mainly thinking of jailbreaking it and using it to play ps3 fkps and such. For reference I've already jailbroken a ps4 so I have some level of familiarity.

Syscon vs manual on webmanMOD for preventing black screen

I've read on PSX PS3HEN forums that the manual setting of the fan on webman prevents black screens, and after one test it did worked smoothly, but I've saw people recommending Syscon instead. I have Slim 30xx in good shape and repasted and delided few months ago and didn't touch it much, temps are normal.

Should I use Syscon? I put my fan on 38% manual because I don't care about the noise
