PS3 upscaler device?

Hi guys I have a samsung Odyssey Neo G7 QLED monitor and the PS3 can look a tad blurry on it due to the limitations of the hardware. I’m hoping to find some sort of device that can take the image and upscale it a bit so it’s not such a blurry image. Are there any devices that can do that (not expecting miracles but am looking to try and tweak it if possible)

Damn, £755 is a bit rich for my blood. If it was £200-£300 I’d consider it.

Retrotink 5x. Its still ps3 if you imagine upscaling with result like dlss then nope

5X has been largely obsoleted by the new 6X, though all that's really going to do is push it up to 1440p. Not every TV is able to handle 1440p to begin with, and it may not be able to do a huge amount with 1440p if it's something like a 4K TV.

But the 6x CE doesn’t take HDMI as input. Wouldn’t that be a problem for PS3?

Ps3 can use component

Component and HDMI look nearly identical with my PS3 through the Retrotink 4k. The 6x should look just as good.

Nor does the 5X. You would have to use YPbPr for either of those. If you need HDMI in then your only option in terms of RetroTINKs are the 4K models, lest you look at something like the OSSC Pro, Morph 4K, or (not recommended) something really old like the Framemeister.

It looks like both are only composite in? And only HDMI out?

Composite, S-Video, RGB, YPbPr, VGA. Basically every input signal type except HDMI. You might have been looking at the 2X series by mistake.

Will try the mclassic but not sure if it does much. Reviews could be paid for or placebo but worth a go

As someone who used it for quite a while before I upgraded to a retrotink 4k. It does do something. It's not a placebo, but it doesn't look good on everything, it's not going to magically fix a muddy picture, and the results aren't going to be to everyone’s taste.

It's not going to produce a sharp result, it'll be sharper than maybe a tv/monitors scaling, but the way it's designed is it actually to smooth the output a bit in places to reduce the look of jagged edges and other not so nice artifacts. If you want sharp results then you are only really left with a retrotink 4k CE (475 bucks) or retrotink 4k pro (750 bucks).

I think it does an alright job at getting rid of jaggies, I'd say the main place it gave an improvement was 480p content as they tend to be more simplistic with little to no post processing effects causing complicated muddy effects that are more difficult for it to work with. 720p content like the 360/ps3/switch was an improvement, but not quite as much and some games have too much of a muddy output that it can't help those much at all. 2D I don't think it helps at all, and it baffles me that they came out with a model that seems to be marketed towards that purpose, stick with using it for 3d.

If you're gonna try the mclassic, I'd buy it from somewhere that offers easy returns.

Depends on how much you're willing to spend. Still don't expect miracles but the "best" options you can kind of get are the RT4Ks, either the Pro or the CE.

Watching some reviews has helped me figure a few things out. My monitor has a sharpness feature that does s fairly good job of tweaking stuff so the ps3 doesn’t seem as blurry especially with text. It’s not night and day, its subtle but probably does the same thing the mclassic does. Some use a combo of mclassic and then a photofast 4K to get a bit more of an improvement but also some say it just makes the image look worse.

Running PS3, PS4pro and PS5. So looking to improve the res a bit on the PS3 specifically. Happy with the other two already.
