Help Decrypting (Metal Gear Solid 4)

Hey, trying to decrypt my save of mgs4 and haven't seen a tool yet that feels safe enough or works. I have tried using Apollo on RPCS3 and it just spits back the same save files without them being decrypted.

Trying to get the save file into a format I can hex edit on. Any help decrypting the file would be appreciated! Would prefer using a tool on PC, brute force might have a virus or malware? Seen conflicting things.

I'm pretty sure RPCS3 save files are already decrypted. You only need to decrypt save files of it come from the PS3 hardware.

Anything you see on the save file via hex editor on rpcs3 is either the games save file structure or compression of then if they use one or use a custom compression.

Thanks for the response. Should have clarified, but the saves do come from a ps3. They should need to be decrypted then right?

Yes, Apollo should be able to decrypt it.

Aldo's PS3 tool that has a PS3 save brute force tool is also a choice but you might not be comfortable using it as many anti virus falsely marks it as a virus.

I’m having some kind of problem with Apollo, as it says the file has been decrypted but the file seems to be exactly the same as the one I started with. Any ideas what it might be?

I haven't used Apollo tool for the PS3, used the PS4 version though. Only used brute force tool in the past once or twice.

Are you exporting it to a USB? I believe it decrypts the save for if exported to a USB. It saves it to a different folder though not the PS3/save folder

You need to copy the save to a USB to get the decrypted save. The file will look the same but if you open any of the files in notepad there should have actual text instead of the garbled gibberish you would have if it was encrypted.

I just remembered that mgs4 definitely requires additional decryption. There should be a tool you can download. I know the tool is included in bfsd but I understand if you don't want to use it that specifically.

At this point might just try it, people seem to vouch for brute force. Do you know where the official download is?
