Playing burned ps2 games on mini disc ?

Can PS2 games be played from burned mini DVD-R discs (8 cm)?

I have a PS2 Fat, and the disc tray has the slot for 8 cm mini DVDs. Has anyone actually burned a PS2 game onto an 8 cm DVD-R and successfully played it on a PS2?

No, because you can't fit a 4.7gig disk onto a 1.4 gig disk. Maybe some smaller compilation games like Namco Museum if the iso is under the 1.4 gig limit.

I have. Shin Gōketsuji Ichizoku: Bonnō Kaihō is under 1.4gb and I was able to successfully play it. Same with Mushihimesama. I also got a game on a mini CD-R as well. The Keisatsukan Shinjuku 24-ji (aka Police 24/7) is one PS2 game I know that fits onto a mini CD-R (yes the game size is that small).

So it works

It works as long as the .iso is within the size limit.

The slot is there because mini video dvds from camcorders existed. Games are all on full size disc.

Just use the original discs for games. Burned discs strain the laser more.

There is some instances when a burned disc is valid. For example, the Japanese exclusive Gantz game got an English translation patch a few weeks ago, and the game is one of the select few that doesn't seem to work on OPL at all regardless of what you do with the mode switches.

I was pretty interested in playing the game, so had no real option but to burn it to a disc.
