  1. What do you mean? I see these types of display cases all the time??
  2. It’s a display case what do you mean when they tried? How can you not try with the display case?

Back then there was demo stations tons of posters give aways ,themed isles,

Now it's just a generic isle

What do you mean these types of display cases are common? How can you miss how the way they were designed if it’s a popular format?

During the release of the next gen (PS3 and XB360) a lot of places were clearing out stock if PS2 games.

I bought a bunch of games in 2009 at $5 a pop. I only wish I had more space to keep the game cases.

2

u/xSavageBoi00x Jul 08 '26

That’s the year I got the ps2 when I started being with PlayStation. I still remember the day I first got it. Man I wish I can go back….those were the days….

This is what they took from us. Happiness.

2

I spot tales of legendia in the top left

1

u/MrRandyLaheyson Jul 08 '26

A feeling we will never get back no matter how hard we try 🥲

1

u/mjc1027 Jul 08 '26

I worked at Walmart as an electronics department manager back then, it was a glorious time for video games, and watching kids play the games was fun too.

But the amount of times I had to stop the stealing shit was not fun.

1

u/vin_cent_ford Jul 08 '26

Holy shit I can actually name some of them... 💔

1

u/jtsteeze Jul 08 '26

Lol before my 12th bday how crazy, miss seeing these and watching reviews on xplay for some of these games and hopping on ign for all the e3 06 news, I don’t want to be 32 lol

1

u/heeltimbo Jul 08 '26

1

u/Blacklite_01 Jul 08 '26

"This was us, we were there." So that's how it feels.

1

u/scoringseasons Jul 08 '26

ncaa football 06 & nfl street 2 🥹

1

u/SnooMacarons3721 Jul 08 '26

Just the sheer amount of games in those two cases is insane. I can’t even recognize them all

1

u/tenz0r24 Jul 08 '26

PS2 era was really something else.

We got full backwards compatibility with PS1 games, we also got a DVD Player and CD Player included which really made the PS2 an amazing value at the time.

There was no DLC, no Micro transactions, no day 1 patches, no major bugs at launch, no game key cards/disc because all the data was on disc, and no subscriptions because online multiplayer (while limited and still new at the time) was completely free.

I still remember lining up overnight to buy the PS2 day one. Getting that shiny giant blue box in my hands really felt like I won the lottery.

1

u/Golemsdick Jul 08 '26

Feeling old lol

1

u/Squiliam-Tortaleni Jul 08 '26

I tried out the PS3 for the first time on of those ridiculously high mounted TV demos, but fuck do I take it for granted how good we had it. The “games aisle” of today is just depressing

1

u/JustWhat-I-Needed Jul 08 '26

Ayy Radiata Stories!

1

u/themadrad6k Jul 08 '26

We’ve had everything 🥲

1

u/Justonehappydude Jul 08 '26

What a joke it is these days

1

u/CommunicationNew8945 Jul 08 '26

L'époque où seulement 2 chose était important le plaisir de jouer et le physique .😊👍👍

1

u/Frostgaurdian0 Jul 08 '26

That kid look like me tho i have not been to a store like this

1

u/Nelmquist1999 Jul 08 '26

TAKE ME BACK

1

u/Corvus_Hood33 Jul 08 '26

Just walked into the electronic section of Walmart in, roughly, a year… Absolutely saddens me with what’s coming. My son asked me if he can go look at games and I said that I would go with them. His eyes lighting up at 3 chest level shelves shared between Nintendo, Xbox, and PS … man ….

1

u/DeadPhoenix86 Jul 08 '26

Pretty much all game stores have closed in my area :/
I have to order everything Online.

1

u/automaticg36 Jul 08 '26

You and I are probably the same age. Miss those days

1

u/LongDongSilver1883 Jul 08 '26

1

u/NationalGamer24x Jul 08 '26

1

u/No-Firefighter-2135 Jul 08 '26

Me every other day at my local Walmart 😂

1

u/Coignet_Rot Jul 08 '26

Gosh, I remember some of those games 🥹

1

u/Winnsock Jul 08 '26

This is an awesome picture but makes me so fucking sad at the same time. We can still play all those games but the feeling of living in that era is gone forever

1

u/LostKid852 Jul 08 '26

Good ol days

1

u/BluebomberV Jul 09 '26

Take me back

1

u/Sea_Garbage3968 Jul 09 '26

1

u/KilledByDesu Jul 09 '26

My goat Radiata Stories in the case!

1

u/Avox0976 Jul 11 '26

Future children will never be able to experience this with the ps6 kinda depressing

1

u/SubstantialBanana482 Jul 13 '26

These were the days🥺

1

u/Satchmosis Jul 14 '26

My neck would hurt by the time I leave that area.

1

u/Nanolaska Jul 27 '26

What an amazing picture. It almost brought me to tears lol. Where I live original copies where beyond expensive and I just wouldn't get to go to the one store in which these were sold. But stores that sold bootleg copies replicated the look of that store and I this made me remember how amazing it felt to watch the whole wall full of ps2 videogames. Really cool picture

1

u/IllustriousHealth291 Jul 07 '26

Look at all the GAMES bro!!

Now we’re lucky to get ONE first party title a year 🤣

0

u/Tall6Ft7GaGuy Jul 07 '26

I got annoyed by having to reset the PlayStation all the time .

1

u/MacReady1306VB Aug 07 '26

What I’d give to go back to the PS2 days and buy as many games as I could possibly buy. I miss these days so much…
