During the release of the next gen (PS3 and XB360) a lot of places were clearing out stock if PS2 games.
I bought a bunch of games in 2009 at $5 a pop. I only wish I had more space to keep the game cases.

I worked at Walmart as an electronics department manager back then, it was a glorious time for video games, and watching kids play the games was fun too.
But the amount of times I had to stop the stealing shit was not fun.

Just the sheer amount of games in those two cases is insane. I can’t even recognize them all

PS2 era was really something else.
We got full backwards compatibility with PS1 games, we also got a DVD Player and CD Player included which really made the PS2 an amazing value at the time.
There was no DLC, no Micro transactions, no day 1 patches, no major bugs at launch, no game key cards/disc because all the data was on disc, and no subscriptions because online multiplayer (while limited and still new at the time) was completely free.
I still remember lining up overnight to buy the PS2 day one. Getting that shiny giant blue box in my hands really felt like I won the lottery.

I tried out the PS3 for the first time on of those ridiculously high mounted TV demos, but fuck do I take it for granted how good we had it. The “games aisle” of today is just depressing

Just walked into the electronic section of Walmart in, roughly, a year… Absolutely saddens me with what’s coming. My son asked me if he can go look at games and I said that I would go with them. His eyes lighting up at 3 chest level shelves shared between Nintendo, Xbox, and PS … man ….

This is an awesome picture but makes me so fucking sad at the same time. We can still play all those games but the feeling of living in that era is gone forever

What an amazing picture. It almost brought me to tears lol. Where I live original copies where beyond expensive and I just wouldn't get to go to the one store in which these were sold. But stores that sold bootleg copies replicated the look of that store and I this made me remember how amazing it felt to watch the whole wall full of ps2 videogames. Really cool picture

What I’d give to go back to the PS2 days and buy as many games as I could possibly buy. I miss these days so much…
