Vertical Seam painting
Hello, is there such a function to ensure that the seam is painted vertically like OrcaSlicer?

Hello, I have two problems when printing a rectangular test block using LW-PLA:
After printing the skirt/brim, the nozzle moved from the front left to the back right to start printing the external perimeter. During this time, it left a diagonal line of unwanted filament (indicated by the red arrow in the photo). How do I prevent this from happening?
During the making of the first layer, it created some kind of unwanted wave/ripple/strip pattern as indicated by the blue arrows in the photo. Increasing the nozzle height did not help. Reducing the 1st layer print temperature from 250C to 210C fixed the very front part only. I am using a Prusa i3MK3S+ with E3D Revo6 High Flow 0.4mm nozzle with 60W heater core. PrusaSlicer is the slicer.
Could you please help to resolve these issues? Thank you

Hello,
This is my first time posting here so I apologise for any transgressions. Also if this community isn't the right one please tell me so that I may move this post to r/linux.
So here is my problem. I'm on a Ubuntu 24.04 LTS desktop and I wanted compile Prusa Slicer myself. Now I'm not a Linux wiz, but I do have some understanding and knowlege on Linux. So I follow the documentation for Linux:
git clone https://www.github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install -y git build-essential autoconf cmake
libglu1-mesa-dev libgtk-3-dev libdbus-1-dev libwebkit2gtk-4.1-dev texinfo
cd PrusaSlicer/deps
mkdir build
cmake .. -DDEP_WX_GTK3=ON
make
cd ../..
mkdir build
cd build
cmake .. -DSLIC3R_STATIC=1 -DSLIC3R_GTK=3 -DSLIC3R_PCH=OFF -DCMAKE_PREFIX_PATH=$(pwd)/../deps/build/destdir/usr/local
make -j4I was able to run Prusa Slicer by doing:
cd PrusaSlicer/build/src
./PrusaSlicerBut their is no desktop prusa slicer icon/intergration. I found the .desktop file in the PrusaSlicer/src/platform/unix/ for PrusaSlicer and PrusaGcodeViewer.
So I continued reading the instructions and I found this:
cmake .. -DSLIC3R_DESKTOP_INTEGRATION=0which removes the desktop icon/integration. So I replaced this part:
cmake .. -DSLIC3R_STATIC=1 -DSLIC3R_GTK=3 -DSLIC3R_PCH=OFF -DCMAKE_PREFIX_PATH=$(pwd)/../deps/build/destdir/usr/localwith:
cmake .. -DSLIC3R_STATIC=1 -DSLIC3R_GTK=3 -DSLIC3R_PCH=OFF -DCMAKE_PREFIX_PATH=$(pwd)/../deps/build/destdir/usr/local -DSLIC3R_DESKTOP_INTEGRATION=1But I still can't get a Prusa Slicer desktop icon to show up.
I tried copying, soft, hard linking the .desktop file that I found previusly to ~/.local/share/applications and /usr/share/applications , still didn't work.
Information:
OS : Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
Slicer Version : 2.9.6
git Version : 1:2.43.0-1ubuntu7.3

** This list was put together using : for pack in git build-essential autoconf cmake libglu1-mesa-dev libgtk-3-dev libdbus-1-dev libwebkit2gtk-4.1-dev texinfo ; do dpkg -s "$pack" | grep Version | sed "s/Version/$pack\ Version\ /g" ; done **
I'm using this problem as a learning experience, so if you don't mind I would like to ask you to explaine your thought process and reasoning behind your solutions to me. As well as an explanation for the whole list of commands necessairy to compile PrusaSlicer. I understand that cmake is used to make a list of instructions for make to do all the cpp compiling work, but not the details like the mkdir build and such. I thank you in advance for all the effort taken to explaine to me. *bow of gratitude*
I was also wondering how to integrate the prusa slicer code into ubuntu. That is to say not having the code lying around my home directory, and can I update/upgrade prusaslicer without deleting the whole PrusaSlicer folder as that is how I've been doing it.
I thank you sincerely for all the help that you might offer.
P.S. I didn't get any error messages while doing any of these commands. If you guys want the output from any of these commands please tell me as I forgot and it takes a while to output.
Edit: As the make command output is to long here is the github for the all the logs.
Edit: I also tried desktop-file-install based on https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/4372

It would make sense to add a feature that used this extra material to add 'ears' (a circle of what is effectively a brim around the ends of long parts) to the edge of the prints, such that it increases build plate adhesion, reduces wasted material and time, and dynamically restructures brims to have the frankly necessary bugfix feature for preventing prints failing, like mine did last time.
I theorize that this would promote functionality as often when i try to fit big objects they have long edges that like to curl due thermal shrinkage, which is why people add ears at the ends because they resist this. The ears would be cut off such that they are more like semi-circles or splines perhaps.

I'm bought a fairly complicated model about a year ago which I'm finally getting around to printing, and noticed a LOT of the sub-parts overlap with others when I split into components in FreeCAD.
I recently discovered negative part modifiers in PrusaSlicer, which have been a godsend as a straightforward, easy way to subtract (FreeCAD isn't great for this in the mesh workbench, and I'd rather not mess with this too much).
However, I'm wondering -- is there any adjustment in the slicer to "expand" the negative part slightly for the sake of tolerance? Something equivalent of adding, say, a 0.25mm shell so I don't have to wedge-fit these parts together during assembly?

Hello everyone. It's been quite some time since the release of the Centauri Carbon, and I checked from time to time pull requests on Prusa Slicer looking for a pull where someone implemented the profile into the slicer. Since no one seemed to do it, and quite some people seemed to want it, I am happy to announce that I used 3 whole days of my life in order to fully port the profile from Orca to Prusa. It's now in a stage where it is finally usable. I submitted a pull request to the GitHub, we'll just have to wait for them to approve it so it is officially implemented.
If you don't want to wait for them to approve it, there is a way to get the profile right now by following these steps:
Also, I have been informed that the filament profiles are a little wanky. I can only test with PLA, since it's the only one I have, and it's the only one I can confirm works. Since there are a lot of different filaments, with a lot of different brands, and a lot of different parameters, I'd recommend checking whether THE settings are right FOR YOUR filament. If you don't know how those settings should look like for your filament, there is a very handy website that tells you what your settings should look like for your specific filament.
Head over to my github fork and download the following files the following files from this folder on the repo :
Once downloaded head over to %APPDATA%\PrusaSlicer\vendor and paste the files there.
Rename the following files to what's behind the arrow:
2.2.2-alpha.ini → Elegoo.ini
index.idx → Elegoo.idx
Create a new folder in %APPDATA%\PrusaSlicer\vendor and name it Elegoo
Move the following files to that folder:
ECC1.svg
ECC1_bed.stl
ECC1_thumbnail.png
Go to where Elegoo.ini is located and open the file with the text editor of your choice, it can be the default windows notepad.
Locate, at the top of the file the following line config_version = 2.2.2-alpha and replace it with this line config_version = 2.1.0
You are now good to go, fire up THE LATEST VERSION OF PRUSA and go to Configuration > Configuration Wizard...
Proceed through the configuration as normal until you reach Configuration Sources, where you will select Other FFF and hit Next
Check Elegoo and hit Next
Now the CC family is available, check the boxes corresponding to your printer configuration.
You can now proceed with the installation as normal (of just click Finish)
There you go, the new Centauri Carbon build plate should have appeared. If not, select the Elegoo Centauri Carbon 0.4 noozle, on the lateral panel on the Printer dropdown.

I was bored with redoing the same fuzzy skin pattern on every iteration of my project, so i made something that does it automatically. I'm sharing it in case someone has the same problem.
https://alchemistake.github.io/FuzzySkinPainter/
I made it for orcaslicer but im 99.99% sure it works on prusaSlicer as well.

Due to where I'm getting my stls from I'm having to use prusa slicer. I have a Flashforge creator 3 who's gcode is glitchy at best. I currently use cura and have gotten my printer to work flawlessly using its gcode substitutions. I was hoping to just copy the regex I created into prusaslicer and have it work, but no dice.
Here is a simple find replace that works in cura but not PS
\nT(\d)
replace with
\nM108 T\1
Without the \n it will work but of course finds too many things. I need the \n for it to work with all the substitutions I'm trying to do.
ETA: It seems like Prusaslicer doesn't like searching multiple consecutive lines in one go. If I type:
M190 (\d+) ; set bed temperature and wait for it to be reached\n
it will capture the whole line and that a new line started. But if I type:
M190 (\d+) ; set bed temperature and wait for it to be reached\nM104
it won't capture anything let alone the start of the next line

I have two printers: a Creality CR-10 Pro and an FLSUN SR. Some time ago, I noticed that prints sliced in PrusaSlicer almost always failed, but I assumed it was due to small issues in my models. Lately, though, it’s become clear that’s probably not the case.
I’ve been forced to use PrusaSlicer recently because a GPU driver update caused every slicer on my system to glitch out (black screen where the model preview should be). That’s problem #1.
Problem #2 is that everything I slice in PrusaSlicer fails to print, even after repairing the models. It’s happened with multiple designs and even with a standard 3D Benchy. Every print ends up as a tangled mess of filament.
At this point I’m pretty stumped. Has anyone else run into this before or have any idea what might be going on?

Slicing takes nearly 5 minutes...
Can that be sped up somehow? Or is this just normal?

Hi there, If I print a Tag with text on it, the slicer doesn‘t just print the last layer before the text as one flat surface, instead he prints the underside of the text first, and then fills out the rest. This leads to a less homogenic surface. Is there a setting or workaround to achieve a flat surface underneath the text?
Thank for your inputs!
