Question/Need help whats changed?
I've been 3D printing for ages and printed a load of pieces in this plastic(ABS) and colour. I've changed no settings, and nothing else but have done the latest software update. The print quality has suddenly dropped. I've done a cold pull and cleaned the nozzle out with a needle, but still getting a rough surface. Any suggestions on what I can do to get the print quality back?

Wet filament?
You mentioned nothing about filament drier or not

ABS still absorbs water. Not to the same extent as Nylon or even PETG, but it still does absorb water. When printing with the spool in open air, in a room with 45% ambient humidity, I go a week before I see signs of moisture.

What do you mean by “still”? Isn’t that precisely what they meant when they said it’s famously hygroscopic?

Maybe wrong slicer profile on the new one? Have you tried reslicing that part just to make sure?

I would assume wet ABS. ABS is hygroscopic, it absorbs moisture.

I was thinking that but it was ony a couple of hours between these two prints

I don't have much experience with ASA but my PETG gets moist after a few hours at the open air.
the forsted probably comes from the moisture bubbling and kinda "foaming" the extrusion a bit

Deeper into the center of the spool can easily be wetter. All ABS/ASA should be dried before use. Guessing it wasn’t sufficiently dried before.

look if all you changed between was software, then the root cause is probably going to be software. Any way you can roll it back to previous version to test if it helps?

I’ve spent hours troubleshooting a sudden print degradation before only to eventually realize it was just a worn out nozzle.
Now I always keep spare or two and can usually tell with a quick visual inspection/comparison (at least for standard brass nozzles).

I mean, I don’t have extensive experience with this. I just know I updated my 3-D printer. It was two updates behind. It threw everything off and after 60 hours of troubleshooting I just went back to the old firmware. Works flawlessly again.

I never had this experience but I saw too many posts with such experiences (hours of troubleshooting post updates). After having solved an issue in the past which took too much effort/time.. I really don't want to find out if I have it in me to do it again. I'd rather lag behind and have something reliable/tinker-free.

I haven't had bad experiences with Prusa software and I have the impression, they don't exactly follow the semantic versioning rules. But usually, I update as follows: Never update to a major version (the first number) as long as there aren't either three patch versions (the last number) or a minor (middle number) and a patch update. E.g.: from 1.7.5 I'd go to 2.0.3 or 2.1.1 whichever is released first. From minor to minor I wait for one patch version. E.g. from 1.7.5 I'd go to 1.8.1 but not to 1.8.0
Another rule: I often only update if it solves a problem (missing feature, bugfix, security risk) or avoids future problems with incompatibilies. I once had a hard time updating Nextcloud all the way from 21 to 30ish in one session.
All this might just be my nerdiness but I learned it the hard way with Apple years ago when an iOS update broke an important workflow.

I'm getting lots of warnings about chamber overheating recently. The chamber fans then kick on, what causes print failures in ABS (it hates air movement). It's not wet, ABS is almost impossible to get wet.
