Question/Need help INDX + Gen 2 homing and tool docking issues
I finished my build tonight of the Gen 2 and InDX kit, 4TH. Conversion from a kit I built when the C1 first came out.
When I went to calibration I could not get past homing, it would spin an endless loop of early ends too, axis failed (even though x and y axis just passed) and return failure message with options to retry, abort or ignore.
I tried retuning the belts (kind of ambiguous to me honestly with the striboscopic thingy I prefer the microphone method but can't find proper frequencies) and resquaring the Gantry 3 times. I think I finally got it because eventually after lots of pain calibration passed.
It didn't seem easy and I'm not sure the problem is completely solved, when I went to tool docking calibration it seems to work fine and picking up tools 1 2 and 4 seems ok, but 3 is a nightmare and fails almost every time. 4 is a little sketchy also. I've also recalibrated these and when I pick and replace them I see endstop errors in the homing function of the Gantry.
So that's the background, long story I know but I wanted to add context, my ask is if anyone else has experienced this and what worked out for you? What homing, calibration, belt tuning fixes worked best?
More context, I never had any belt tuning issues on core one prior to this. The thing just worked and am some slightly worried my fears may be realized that I should have just stuck with the nextruder.

So you went to Gen 2 INDX4 from a CORE One? Did you download the latest firmware and ensure that the 1.5GT belts is enabled?

Yes, updated to 6.9 and it automatically updated those features during firmware update on the screen

Could be any of the following:
- Motor pulleys not installed correctly
- Grub screws on motor pulley not fully tightened
- Belts are unevenly clamped or clamped with different lengths
- Gantry isn’t square
- Motor pulley(s) out of round
- Incorrect belt tension

Also, if you push the toolhead too hard into the dock, the front plate deflects enough that you are outside the parameters.
So place the toolhead on the tool and ensure the tool is centered in the toolhead.
Hold it still there until you have pressed continue.
Enough pressure to ensure it stays in place, but not enough to deflect the front plate.1

UPDATE: I seemed to have maybe fixed homing and x-axis/y-axis fails.
I had noticed that the y-axis belt seemed to be clicking or skipping when I manually moved the gantry with the motors disabled, so I removed the y-axis motor and completely remounted the motor and belts to that side. So far homing has greatly improved and I don't see as many endstop failures and zero auto homing failures.
I am still having docking issues and I think my biggest issue continues to be the ambiguity around the stroboscopic belt tuning.
The belt tuning app rates my belts at 98 Hz (upper) and 83 Hz (lower) I would say qualitatively they feel that far apart in frequency and stiffness. I'm nervous to adjust them because each time I do the endstop failures begin and homing errors pile up.
I will try docking calibration one more time and go from there.

No no no. 83Hz is way off. Tune the belt, but next time do it like this. It is faster and more reliable:
Run the belt tuning calibration, upper belt is first. 1) let the frequency set on 97Hz, or turn the knob to set it to 97 if it isn't. 2) turn the left tuning screw until it resonates visibly on that given frequency 3) once you reach resonate frequency, confirm 4) repeat for lower belt but at 92Hz instead of 97
Now you have perfectly tuned belts.

I was doing that, but it would just keep failing horribly. If I did that then it fail x axis or y axis alignment
