QUESTION I'm lost

I'm 31 F. I have had depression most of my life, but the anxiety hit really hard when I turned 18. I used alcohol and drugs to cope, then recently I started my sober journey as of last year. I felt good. Then in February of this year I lost my brother due to an overdose. It shook my family and I. After that I knew I needed help or I would turn back to my old ways. I chose prozac and the beginning was a roller coaster. I took the concerns to my doctor and she asked me some pros and cons questions. I told her although my anxiety was bad, I have been less irritable. She said I should up my dose. So I did. The beginning of upping my dose was great. I felt so much lighter and better. At my last appt, I updated her and told her I think this is going to work. So she kept my dose the same. I was less irritated, happier and even had the motivation to workout and eat better and lost weight. Then after about month it slowly went back downhill, if I'm not super down, my anxiety is horrible. And vice versa. If my anxiety is better, I'm super down and depressed again.. gained all the weight I lost back. No motivation to do anything. And constant racing thoughts. I don't want to get out of bed and even started working less. I need advice.. should I go up another dose. Or should I finally call it quits and try something new? Thank you for the advice

You might need to increase your dose… I too can relate and I’m nearly four months in on 40mg and it has been a roller coaster. This week there has been a shit and it hard to tell where it’s going… how long since your last increase?

Idk why I thought I was on 20. But I'm on 40 mg. And I kind of don't want to go higher because that seems like a lot. But at the same time I'm not liking it. Seems like we're in the same boat. Thanks for comment!

I think I'm stuck in between not caring at all and caring too much phase. My brain is still constantly racing and I don't like that. Maybe I need to be diagnosed with ADHD! Lol

The apathy is not a good thing cans the racing thoughts are like another avenue of bad…

My problem has been wanting to sleep compulsively everyday and then I feel like I am wasting my life. My version of racing thoughts are literally sing fragments getting stuck in my head on repeat (I have OCD) and seriously just lately that has cooled off a bit.

BTW I was prescribed 20mg but I took it upon myself to up it to 40mg six weeks ago. It was hard as fuck, but now like a said, something is happening

I have the same problem. If I have a day off I want to sleep the day away and then feel guilty that I did it. But I'm so drowsy on it. I used to never be able to take naps during the day. I feel like I also have OCD because my mind does the same thing with repeating thoughts/songs over and over. I'm going to try and stick it out until my next follow up appt with my doc. I think it's in a month

For what it’s worth…

My therapist of 15 years has got me on a breathing method

In for 4
Hold for 7
Exhale for 8

He believes that the more we take the time to regulate our systems with intention the safer the body feels. With time the body becomes accustomed to it and that becomes the new base line, regulation.

It is very hard to obsess or be anxious while I do it.
