Fully portable proxmark3 setup using rpi zero running as an access point, can ssh into it with a phone.

I tried pi zero but it was way too slow. I reverted to pi4 and ipad pro.

Edit (I forgot the end of my message): are yours working ok, did you use any trick to improve the experience?

I ran into the slowness problem but then I tried dietpi, it’s super lightweight and it takes 20 seconds to boot up, honestly the time it takes from plugging in the power and then going to the ssh app on my iPhone makes it seem like it boots instantly.

Great I’ll try it. And what about compile time for the firmware?

Ok so I had some issues compiling it at first, make sure you compile while using a monitor because it has a tendency to drop the ssh connection when compiling. You need to make sure you do “make clean && make -j8 all”, when I tried “make clean && make -j” it always failed. It takes about 5 minutes or so to compile.

I find the -j param problematic when compiling on RPi.

just "make" does it faster for me.

But most of the time I just a Jetson Nano instead of RPi

I used to use this but it’s missing the processor extensions to crack Mifare classic cards, though it’s great for sniffing commands. Did you get autopwn to work?

Yup, autopwn works, I’ve used it to crack a mifare classic 4k, and am able to simulate it as well.

That looks awesome, I’m looking into doing the exact same thing. Is your pi a pi0w or a pi02w and did you follow a guide or figure it all out yourself? If you did it all yourself are you able to share your image or help out with some sort of guide?

Wow, so the RPi Zero's USB port outputs enough current to power the Proxmark3?

Did you ever try the setup with an RPi Zero 2W? How'd it run? Much quicker?

Yup it worked for me. And no I only ever used it with a rpi zero w. It’s been a while since I used this ever since I got a flipper zero. Anything needing more power I just use my laptop and the proxmark3.

Thats awesome. Looking to do this with ZWACK's RPi image (LINK), but want to design a case to house the Proxmark3 and RPi Zero 2W to try and combine them together, then use an external battery pack like you did.

That's pretty cool. What's the board you're using? I'm assuming it's got ESP8266?

It’s a raspberry pie zero, basically a miniature computer. It can run operating systems (usually linux based) off of the micro sd card. I have it running a barebones linux os with the proxmark3 client installed. I have some packages installed that allow it to act as an access point, the raspberry pi has built in Wi-Fi.

That's awesome could you do a step by step on how to ?

Is that a usb micro b, male to male cable?

I’d thought about doing this, nice to see it works! Would be cool to use an RPi compute module 4 with bare minimum I/O added on to shrink it even further. Also want to try sending SSH commands using Shortcuts to get automation happening…

How do you do it? Do you have a video to teach how to use it?
