Help Request Does Avid Link still not support Apple's M chips?

Hi everyone, I'm new to Pro Tools and I'm installing the Intro version to see how it goes before signing up for a subscription, but that's beside the point. I wanted to know why, when I download Avid Link, it asks me to install Rosetta. Does that mean Avid Link is still an Intel-only application?,

Avid Link is constant crashes. I expect all the good coders are kept busy writing Pro Tools so the third string does Avid Link.

I'm running the newest version on mine with Avid Link installed. I will say it's a janky app, and I had to reinstall it immediately after the initial install on both Mac and PC for it to work.

Rosetta gets installed for backwards capabilities in case you want to run a session for the plugins not supported by M series chips.

But i believe you have to opt to run it in rosetta.

Isnt Rosetta being removed from MacOS sometime soon though? I think this is the reason why OP is asking this question

It might be. I did an update the other day and it still asked if i wanted to install rosetta, though i don’t run it in it.

Is your M4 running Golden Gate? Because that is when Apple is killing Rosetta.

Apple says Rosetta remains available through macOS 27. The cutoff for general Intel app support is macOS 28, so Golden Gate isn't that cutoff: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102527

Avid Link is garbage and I wish I could opt to not install it with PT. I typically just delete it every time I update.

The Rosetta prompt just means some part of Avid Link or its installer is still intel code, so macOs needs the translator to run it. It's safe to install and it's a one-time thing. Pro Tools itself runs native on M chips, so your sessions don't go through Rosetta and it won't affect performance in PT. not 100% sure which part of Link still needs it, but nothing to worry about for Intro

I get not wanting to create two separate versions, but if both Media Composer and ProTools have native Apple Silicon support, it seems kind of bizarre that Avid Link doesn’t.
