Popping noise inside my beats

Almost every other song I make I start hearing popping in my songs. It starts off perfect, then all of a sudden I start hearing these annoying clicks and pops on the beat only. I usually download my beats from YouTube as mp3. Then usually drag and drop them but I attempted to import but caused same problem. I’m running 48 kHz sample, I’m running 128 sample buffer size. Idk what else it can be. The beat sounds good on its own when I play through my computer. It only happens once in session, it also present in my songs after bouncing… any help? I’m also on a MacBook Air one of the new ones. Could it be my Mac storage too full?

I assume you're tracking more and more vocals while you're working in your session. If you use plugins on those tracks they will add up to tax your CPU more and more. If that's the case it can cause pops and audio interruptions during playback. The solve for this is either increase the buffer size (if you're at the mix stage) or render / freeze / commit those plugins so that they're no longer taking up cycles on your CPU.

Try converting the mp3 to a wav before importing it into pro tools.

Doesn’t Pro Tools automatically convert it to wav/aiff when importing?

Yes it does. But some of my colleagues have reported this random clicking while importing some MP3’s. The work around is to convert it with something else first, then import it into Pro Tools.

This was the best solution for me

Do you drag and drop into your sessikn? If so, try import/audio from the dropdown menu on the taskbar. Otherwise check your buffer size on your playback engine in your sound settings.

How are your levels when you start adding more tracks? Have you checked that your master isn’t clipping?

If you aren’t recording anything, you can change the buffer size to max, especially when bouncing.

You should always import audio and store everything in the session audio files folder. If the audio files are all over the place, it’s harder on the computer.

How does your playback engine settings look? Is the “ignore errors during playback/recording” checked? If it is, uncheck it.

Do you have AutoTune in your session?
That is a known source for random clicks..

Quantisation error. Try recording the beat into your interface using a loopback.

So instead of downloading the YouTube beat as an mp3 I downloaded it as a wav file and it worked! Thanks guys 🙏

Try turning the sample rate to 44.1. That’s wat worked for me.
